Wiper motor wiring / contact assembly

I replaced the grommets today. The old ones HAD to be original to 1988. Boy that was difficult to remove the old ones.

Anyway, I now have a good strong electrical signal up to the motor. And wouldn't you know it, now the motor doesn't work! ARGH!

When I first "fixed" it, it worked. Then it stopped working, I checked with my volt meter and no power to the motor. Now there is power to the motor and it still doesn't work. So fix one problem, move on to the next.

did you check the ground wire that is screwed to the wiper bracket? The motor grounds to the bracket where the bolts are. If the bracket gets painted, the ground may not be great.

yes, ground and power were intermittent before. They are now solid, and I get a solid 24+V across them.

Checking the motor, I don't get any connection when I push the knob to the washer (but checking the wiring it's fine). Add to that no resistance measurement across the motor (power to ground with the switch turned.). Switch and/or motor has failed.
