working on 6.5 turbo install...

Got all the parts for installing a '93 6.5 gm-4 turbo on my '86 M1009. Just a few more questions:

1. From a quick search, the opinion seems to be that an intercooler is probably not going to make much difference, and might hurt throttle response due to turbo lag. I've got a chance to score a used Duramax intercooler for $100. Since I've relocated the batteries, I could put it in the pass side engine compartment with an electric fan to simplify the installation, but is it worth the $$$ and hassle?

2. I'll be turning up the mixture in the IP, but should I also advance the timing?

I dont know if I would do that with a turbo. In a N/A 6.2 they wake up with a boost of timing (3*) but adding a turbo and timing.. I would not go more them 1* or so.
