Dot5 fades to yellow/golden color after its been in the system for a while.

If you search you can find ways to test whats in your system now to see if its dot5 or not.

Silicone DOT5 brake fluid is supposed to be purple. The purple dye is somewhat unstable, and frequently fades to a yellow color. DOT5.1, which is just a modified form of DOT3, is clear.

There is a big difference!
