How does one go about stopping there to look at stuff? I have never been.
I am driving by tomorrow morning and I have always wondered. Can someone give me the rundown? Which entrance? What to expect?
AND,
I have a legal concealed carry. I assume that is not allowed inside? What about securing in a lock box in their parking lot? Can I get myself in trouble with this with them? I am not interested in that.

I am not bidding on anything. I am saving every penny for my shop construction.

Are they a Monday through Friday gig?

I know a guy here who has 900-20s mounted for around $50 if you are interested. Long ways to ship them though.

Well on the conceal carry, you are not supposed to. On my last trip I forgot about my 9mm, I didn't have any place to stow it while I was picking up my item. I left it in my bag and would declare it if asked but they didn't search anything on my truck and I didn't say anything. Got my stuff and got out.

If you already have an appointment, it is a lot easier. But you can request to review lots.
The GL side of it is EASY. The visitor center can be a pita with some of the people that work there, especially when just previewing stuff.
I just wish I could get a pass good for a year. Be so much easier that way...

Oh, and what entrance depends on what you are driving. Normal vehicle, visitor center (exit 120 ) to get your pass. You need your vehicle insurance and registration. And your driver license.
Something like your deuce, then the commercial gate (exit 123 I think). Be prepared to open every door, glove box, etc, for them to look through.
GL is Mon - Fri.
Not sure if they want you to call ahead for a preview (usually can get through without it, but it can help.)

I dropped my pistol off at a gun dealership, I think he was about 86th street and east of South Tacoma Way, on the way to University Place. He was happy to hold it for me while I went into JBLM. I made it a point to buy some ammo from him when I picked it up.
I was driving my pickup and camper, they gave me quite a hassle, even though GL supposedly had notified them of my arrival. GL told me to use the commercial gate (north?). When I got there that gate told me that I should have gone to the main gate. GL said that was BS. that the commercial gate just doesn't like to inspect non-commercial rigs, but the main gate does not like to inspect RV's.

Anyhow, GL was very nice, the gate folks were a PITA.

My biggest recommendation is never ever never ever never ever give the gate guards the impression you don't know where you're going. DO NOT ask them how to get to GL. They will make you turn around and tell you have a nice day.

GL told me to just call ahead like 10 minutes just so they know. That way if the gate guard is suspicious and calls you at least have an appointment. And they are open from 0900-1430.

I went and looked at that deuce in Lewistown a few months ago and I was not impressed with it. Was a waste of an afternoon drive. It has been posted there for awhile. If he would come down to about 2200 that is what I would give him for it. There is another one over here near Missoula and the guy wants 4500 for it but he is out of his **** mind. It smokes so bad it can kill every mosquito and has more algae in the tank than any **** pond.

Before I head up to JBLM, I make sure I have all my loaded SIG mags out of the truck. Would hate to get inspected and try to explain why those are in there. I've got DoD decals on my vehicles. For some reason, I luck out and get picked for random searches. Just play it safe and leave the firepower at home.

Papabear has a funny story about his 5ton gun truck, seems he was in a parade with .50cal replicas mounted (and forgot they were up there) after the parade he went to enter FT Benning and well lets just say the gate guards got their heart rate up some!

First, that grey Deuce ad does say OBO so the price might not be such a putoff if it keeps aging. Just sayin'.

Well, by sometime today I'll know if I have a deal on tires listed in the classifieds. Just a couple details to confirm. I did a ton of shopping on the www over the past week since I get real cheap freight through work. It's astounding how many mounted/used are available if you can run for them or get cheap freight.

As for what's GOOD about being in NJ (a short list), I'm only a day trip from Kublos. After a really helpful, extended conversation w/ Kenny there, I'd probably prefer to make the trip there for mounteds and to do a combination of gawking and shopping for other stuff while there.

When I mentioned it to a couple of guys from the club, I got the impression that my fuel would be free from all the chip-ins for empty seats. You can cram a helluva lot of guys 'n gear in an E-350 w/ bench seats and mil-trailer.

Interesting thread here.
