Picked up my kid from school. At the Jr. High, the kids have phones and everyone was taking pictures. My kid was the talk of the school the next day or two...
Around 2001 i timed the delivery of a load of gravel with my M51 gasser so that i could pick up my son after his Track practice, no sense to spend an hour-and-a-half doing a 2nd round trip down there to get him
The ol' girl howls loudly into the bus lineup area out of sight for a bit, the noise echoing off the old brick building.. When i finally see the courtyard, the entire Track team, football team, coaches, and some of the girlfriends are all wide-eyed wondering WTH is coming
This is pre-cell phone photo days.. His coach is grinning ear-to-ear because he knew me.. Everyone else is dumbfounded. My boy immediately looks down when he sees what it is, grabs his stuff and jumps in.. He doesn't speak to me the entire way, stares straight ahead. When we get home he says , "Dad, don't ever do that to me again."
