I'm afraid I wont be making the rally this year. Friday i had a school bus pull out in front of me and stop, It was hit the bus full of kids or the ditch, I took the ditch. still in the hospital , had collapsed lung, broken arm. Don't remember too much after the ditch woke up the next day in the hospital, pry be in here another week they say, but I'm alive! AS you can see from the photo my boss e-mailed me the truck didn't fair so well. Bus driver was sighted for it and put on suspension pending investigation. a traffic cam caught the hole thing on video. bus turned in front of me on a red light and then just stopped. I pry wont be back to work for a bit till i heal up. Got a real cute nurse!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you are OK tigger. Start making plans for next year.

Just went back and looked at the picture. Man, you are a Hero!!! If you had hit that bus many kids would have been hurt or worse. I hope I have the courage if confronted with a decison like this I make the same one did. My hat is off to you and I hope to shake your hand next year at the Ga . Rally

Man, that sucks. For making you miss the rally, that ought to bring you a million in a lawsuit.

Get well soon. It helps if you grab the nurse everytime she turns around.

Wow, you are blessed and so are the kids that you certainly saved. Be well my friend! Lets look at this from a logical standpoint. You should be up and around by the time the rally hits but not well enough for work. I'd drive to the rally in my civy vehicle. The therapeutic value of watching wreckerman steppin and fetchin would be worth a week in the saddle not to mention seeing Papabears tu-tu! Don't forget possum steaks fresh off the barbie!

Alright folks, we are only a little less than 4 weeks out from the rally. It's time to make sure your rides are serviced, fueled up and ready to go.

I really don't think any of us realizes how big this year could be. The emails, pm's and phone calls I have gotten from word of mouth referrals, the rally website and this thread have been amazing. This years turnout could really be amazing-I wouldn't be surprised to see growth of 50% over last year's event. It's that big.

So if there is any year that you were going to go, it's this one!

Thanks everyone I'm getting a little stronger every day. cant wait to get this tube out of my gut and the one down my nose too!!!!!!!! I think grabbing the nurse would be a bad idea , she is in control of the pain meds. lol when i can get out of here they are going to fly me home and my aunt is going to stay with me till i can get back to work. we will have to see about the rally i live about 300 miles away from it and don't know what kind of shape i will be in to drive there. but we will see. thanks again every one.

Dr just came in to see me seems i have an infection. he also brought me a card from the 5th grade class from his son's school, the same school the bus was going to. turns out one of the ER. nurse's had a daughter on that bus. She came up to see me but i was knocked out at the time. I also found out that a marine recruiter was behind me and climbed in to the truck and controlled my bleeding till rescue arrived. Being a former Marine I think I owe him a beer! My brother is flying in soon and will stay till Tue then he has to get back for work, he has also spoken with a lawyer, witch will be in tomorrow to speak with me. I guess the local paper dug up some dirt on the bus driver, the nurse said she will bring me in the paper clipping tomorrow. Sorry if I'm rambling I'm Bord and waiting for the pain killers to kick in, I'm just glad they let me have my lap top in here and can get on line. all in all they are treating me well. I don't think of my self as a hero, I just couldn't hit that bus knowing there were kids on there, IT is amazing how fast you can think and react in a spot like that. It happen so fast yet took so long in my mind. I don't remember anything after the truck layed over, just waking up in the ER. with a lot of things going on, and I'm glad I was out when they put the tube in to re inflate my lung, I have heard that smarts a bit! Everythink is getting a little fuzzy my pain med's must be kicking in so ill shut up now.

Sleep well tigger. Most heros don't think they are, thats one of the ways you know they are true heros. Its funny how things work out sometimes. If the bus driver had to pull out in front of someone then who better than you. If you had to do what you did then who better to be behind you than a former Marine who could handle the task at hand. And then you wind up in a hospital with emploees whose kids lives you saved. Someone was riding shotgun with you and those kids that day. Sleep well my friend, you are in good hands.

Dr was in early this morning and took the tube out of my nose . (yea) looks like ill be heading home Monday, blood work came back good yesterday just a slight infection. My arm is just a crack not a brake so the cast can pry come off in a couple weeks. My lung is healing nicely, have to have O2 for the plane ride, not shure why. My supervisor from DOD will be in sometime this morning, we need to take care of me getting paid for the time I'm off ( thank god i got that extra insurance) I cant believe it had been a week since the wreck. the Rally might not be out of the question. but i dint want to say yes just yet. Have to see what the boss says, hope she says yes, I have been looking forward to this for a long time and hate to wait another year! Thank you all for the kind words i relay do appreciate it. tks Matt

I have always put my life in Gods hands and i know he was watching over me that morning It was a Marine recruiter in uniform that crawled in the truck with me and held the bleeding till the medics arrived, my boss as heard of this and is going to replace his uniform witch got covered in my blood.
