We had those trucks at MCLB Albany first!!!! The USMC bought about 120 of them before they pulled the plug on the concept and they all were stored in one of our warehouses before they were sold them to the above not mentioned agency for border patrol work. I thought they drove very well but they apparently had some hull issues that were concluded could not handle EFP IED's without a major rework and FPI already had the Cougar variants ready to field. An interesting side note, two of them had the exact same Registration and USMC numbers so I wonder what kind of confusion that has caused the GOVT. As for the drivetrain, I cannot for the life of me figure why OSHKOSH decided not to use the C12 and Allison 7 speed out of the MTVR for parts commonality reasons? Would have made a stronger selling point IMO.

Oshkosh is a great company and will remain very important in many areas besides military trucks. But what a waste of our money turning over such a truck to the FBI. Geez, like a bunch of lawyers with badges need armor.

I purchased 10 of the steering axles out of these trucks. My plan for the axles is to go under my jeeps. I think if their purpose is to take IEP impacts, they might be able to handle a couple rocks.... I will let you guys know how they work out...

I hope they actually make it to the Border Patrol, but I suspect that they will instead end up in the "mother agency" for them and the BP agents won't even be able to sniff them.

We have a sweet 2008 Oshkosh MRAP-A in the shop right now for a fuel leak. A real peice of work to work on, but still cool to drive! It no longer belongs to the USMC, it has been handed over to...an investigation unit...a federal one...don't wanna say the letters so we don't get in doo doo here. Lots of infra red has been added along with an HID outer lighting system and a 15k electric winch. Here are some pics, enjoy!
Oh yeah, the curb wt? 35.000#!
Is the fuel leak by any chance from the passenger side fuel cell??

We have one at the compound right now that was leaking fuel bad from that cell and when the cell was removed Tony discovered someone had installed the wrong cell on the passenger side at some point.

There is a left and right side cell and this MRAP had a "left side" cell installed in the right side compartment.
The contour of the compartment is different and the cell eventually got a hole rubbed thru it.

If you need help locating parts etc., I can have Tony contact you. He has become a master at keeping this thing going and the larger Golan(?).
