I love the burb myself. I have one. Drive train and engine are all mil spec. I am looking for more parts to put on it to take it closer to mil spec. I am looking for m1009 for wife, she loves burb dose not like the length.
I would have done the console out of aluminum less bulky and more strength. But I'm a metal worker, still Great work. looking at doing that for my daily driver.
I don't have a CUCV yet but I have something close and it has hooked my wife in the steelsoldiers. This suburban is a J code 6.2 and the same drive train as the CUCV's. The first pic is of the suburban and my wife sitting on the 60 ft tree we pulled out of the road on the way home. The...
i have word from a friend that three deuces will be schrapted if not save ...... One has no engine Two are complete unknown if they run.. need above schrap price to save..... i'll be in the mess tent
I would not drive an FMTV if my life depended on it. The accident rate on them has gone down, but still three times higher then 5 ton or deuce. from the time i saw the first one get dropped of in the motor pools i saw more deadline then operational. I will correct my self I WILL NOT drive...
I just wish it was the person that built this mess was the one that got kill. I have built some things that are questionable but were built to what the materials could handle.
SGTskully i like your avatar too. I hung up my dog tags some time ago.
If the starter is wearing down it will be hard to start. I ran through all of the trouble shooting and was left with a slow starter. If your starter is not turning the engine at or above a 100 RPMS it will not start well or at all.
I did not have facts on numbers but about what i was guessing. It would work out prefect for a daily driver that hits highway often and will be great for pulling and off road for me.. and should get the fuel mileage to where i want it. It will be different for me I have 4.11 gears it my truck.
GM/ CHEVY use it in a later 90's model. I was very surprised when I first found the truck that had the zf 650 trans in it. did searching and found another and call an uncle (in law) that is GM engineer He said it would work in my 85 chevy suburban and any stock GM transfer case and I would...
No I am talking going manual trans ZF-S6-650 it will hold up to 650 hp with zero loss of power. I have seen more burnt clutches then blown manual trans, and i hate losing power to making something change gears for me where and when it wants to. So yes I am a control freak. and when my 68 GMC...
I was an army truck driver i will drive anywhere i want to and pull a 8000# trailer doing it. In the pictures that is a sixty foot tree I drug out of the road. and that is my lovely five foot tall wife.
Yes you could it's up to you GM is using same bolt pattern but the allison needs a control box more electronics to go wrong. manual trans do not need brain boxes less trouble to me.
