I sold my late model silverado and bought the 1009 because i am seriously technology declined (it's truely impressive i can even use the computer well enough to be on this site), so i'm not sure i can figure out how to use the digital camera we have, then upload pics, and then post them, but i...
I have been running about 30-35% WMO all summer long. I have not noticed ANY difference in MPG or power. The only difference is it does smoke a little more when you get on it and my wallet seems to have more money in it lately.
I went with WMO over WVO, because after doing research, it...
I think it's awesome that you take the time to do this for everyone! I love these trucks and this site!:driver:

Bought it from David Roberts(SS member) in TN, he got it from GSL as far as i know. I believe the title transfer...
just to clarify, your saying one of my glow plugs is bad and its smoking because that cylinder has unburned fuel due to the lower temp?
I did replace all my GPs with 60Gs just a few months ago, but i guess i could check them to be sure.
And i don't think this would explain why it suddenly...
Ok recently my 1009 has begun puffing a little white smoke at an idle after you start it up. this stops as soon as the engine is warm. It also starting puffing black smoke anytime you accelerate or put it under a load.
I can't say i've noticed any major loss in power, but i think maybe a...
Bad news, i called Nostalgia Air today. they informed me that they no longer sell the kits for the CUCVs (stopped selling them just last month!) and they also said the under the dash unit was not big enough to cool the 1009. i think it is made for a pickup cab.
not interested in mounting a...
southdave, are you or is anyone else currently running this unit? how well does it cool the truck down?
can you order the kit as is, or do you have to specify a few changes before ordering?
the description says it mounts in the middle and you don't have to modify the existing heating...
i just had this same problem with my m1009. the front end would drift to one side and then catch and lunge back in the other direction, pretty scary driving down the road. turning the wheel while stopped you could feel it bind up and then release.
it ended up being my front axle u-joints...
i am also looking into using a civvy a/c set up in my 1009.
things i know- i do not want to convert to 12v, i do not want to spend big bucks, and i do not mind getting my hands dirty.
things i think i know- i can get all the main parts (compressor, evap, condenser) for around $250 from local...
I noticed my hubs were hot to the touch last week and thought my brakes were dragging. I checked the brakes and they are fine.
i am also having a problem with the front end drifting and then catching and jerking the entire truck to one side or the other. i couldn't find anything wrong so i...
i don't think it's the speedo, not sure how it would affect the volt meter and the wait light if it was. also it does this when the truck is not moving.
i just replaced my GP relay so if it is the relay then what would cause a new relay to start going bad right away?
i replaced the relay...
i too have just recently run into this problem. the truck started making a rapid clicking sound, more like a chatter, during and after start up. the volt meter jumps around and wait light flickers at the same time. it doesn't seem to do it everytime you start it and it stops after it's warmed...
that's correct, it cranks just fine cold or hot, it just takes 5 times longer cranking to fire when it's warm vs cold.
again, this is my first MV or diesel and i am not a mechanic, but this has me stumped. the truck runs and drives great. like i stated earlier i just replaced the batteries...
