I remember driving around the bases there in Honolulu as a kid (Dad was Navy) in the late 70's and seeing hundreds of those things lined up side-to-side along the back roads there at Hickam and Ft. Shafter. I can only assume they were stored there after Vietnam. Cool to see one running out...

Personally I like the project so-far. It's interesting and unique. I think the only thing I would have done differently was thrown a welding blanket over the air bags before welding those mounts on. That slag was hitting the bags and bouncing off when he was welding...not good for the bags...

WOW! Just WOW! 1/48 scale!!!! Man, he can get those 1/48 scale plane kits for it and it would work. A lot of 1/48 scale stuff out there for that. What an amazing effort....I'm stunned. I would love to know more about this project! Some more on 1/48 scale...

As the original poster said in his reply, this guy needs to get a wrecker to tow it. 10 miles can't be that expensive (relative to the risk involved doing it otherwise). Low drama, high safety by just calling in a pro.

Looks like a Harbor Freight cart there. :) I use one for my TIG welder (not a Miller). I had to replace the front casters on mine...they sucked (would not track right). Got some better ones at HF.
