    M35A3 Tranny Changed Shift Points

Check the kick-down switch (I assume it has one) is ok.

    Deuce Lug Wrench

Reminds me of a chap in the workshop a few years back who would pick up a tool and remark "Ah, another one made by Drop Forged; they seem to make lots of stuff........" He was the same guy who, during a discussion on a tv programme with lots of stunt car crashes remarked "They don't have brakes...

Bouncing/teeter tottering suspension bounce depending on the road

Dried out or rusty spring leaves put the strain on the ends near the shackles; a greased spring will allow all the leaves to move and share changing loads. 'Frozen' springs ride like a pea in a drum.

Deuce won't build air pressure when cold...

I haven't come across any mention of Menthol or Methylated Spirits in the TM's; it was quite common before air driers to have a bottle of meths with a small bleed pipe feeding the suction side of an air compressor. Works very well, fitted to MCW Gardner engined and Leyland Atlantean/National...

    Old style head gaskets

Our M51A2 blew between 4 and 5, and didn't look too healthy on 2 and 3 either. Luckily it was only a couple of miles from the depot, so nursed back. Memphis Equipment had a full set on the bench here on the other side of the Atlantic in a day plus the 6 hours time difference. As an aside, I...

    Driveline Vibration...very specific

I love that term 'zerks'; we call them grease nipples and hex head/slide on nipples...... zerks hits the spot!

    Driveline Vibration...very specific

Time to get the dogsbed and go under; the clunk picking up reverse would likely be a diff, soldier B wanted to watch which one has a jump in it. I would check the sliding splines on each prop shaft for lift, and each universal joint for any play. Just be sure to have wheels off the ground to...

Found metal chips in oil, still runs great

It was/is a party piece with Leyland L11 and TL11 engines, the idler gear chews the back of the timing case and a mystery oil leak develops. But the sight of that amount of articles in the sump gives me the shivers. Send for Mr. Holmes.

    Hello from Dublin, Ireland

You get used to the narrow stuff but I often wonder if tourists think they've missed a sign when the hard shoulder fizzles out and it gets bumpy.Just to show we've done book, film and washed the t-shirt a couple of times here's the M51's block about to be cleaned before refitting the heads. You...

    Hello from Dublin, Ireland

A belated 'Hi guys' from Dublin. I very much appreciate the vast amount of accumulated knowledge available from the MV crew. Perhaps you may enjoy a view from my shotgun on a standard Irish regional road taken from the M51. You chaps have it easy on Interstates

    More electric problems.

I have to have a giggle at the mention of suppressors; back in the 'days of the magic wood' with old cars and motorbikes, you would see curtains being pulled back and fists shaken when some badly suppressed splutterbug passed down a street, ruining radio reception with fizzes and crackles, and...

    Toughest beads I've ever seen!

A few bits of 2"x2" angle, 4" long with rounded corners are great for getting a start on the bead and letting the soap in.
