Looking to swap my M1009 over to a NV4500. Having trouble identifying the NV4500 models. Found this one and the guy selling it doesn’t know what it came out of. Was hoping for some help. Added the pictures I have of it. Thanks.
Trucks starts and runs! Found 3 glow plugs with holes in them, several bad spade connectors, 2 bad grounds, and a wire by passed for no known reason. Thanks for everyone who helped out!
Working on glow plugs my self. I paid $65 for the solenoid from Napa (ST85 is the part number). Quick easy change. The glow plugs weren’t too bad. $90 for all 8 from Leroy Diesel. Just received mine today so I’ll be installing them tomorrow. Removing them wasn’t bad. On the passenger side I...
Ordered AC Delco 60G plugs and the harness from Leroy Diesel. Thanks for the feed back! Started pulling apart the harness today. Found that fuseable links have been replaced with crimps. Not a huge deal but makes me wonder why the last guy went so crazy with the electrical tape. Also noticed a...
ok so today I found out that my multimeter was fried. No chasing wires. Pulled all 8 glow plugs. None swollen but 3 had holes in them and had metal buildup. All 8 were AC Delco units. As the odometer shows 49k on it I’m gonna guess they’re original. Wondering if the holes would cause the plugs...
So my 84 M1009 had a crank no start with the GP solenoid chattering away. So load tested batteries all good. Checked continuity on the solenoid and had an intermittent ground post (post with the blue wire attached). So removed and replaced with a ST85 from Napa. Big thanks to the people who...
Yeah I went thru the jeep with her and pointed out the major issues. Also let her know that there isn’t a thing on it that doesn’t need to be redone / replaced. Turns out it was her fathers jeep and she’s convinced it’s a true combat veteran from WW2. Showed her the data plate that says accepted...
I spend most of my time over in the CUCV forums lurking and plotting the next fix/upgrade/etc… to my old M1009. Then today a lady comes in to where I work and asks if I like old military vehicles. Old green iron attracting old green iron I guess. The only thing I know about jeep is that it...
Thanks for the info. I deleted my Facebook years ago just not much for that whole thing. I’ll keep googling I guess. Thanks for the suggestion on the transmission.
After googling and doing the search here on the forums I haven’t found anything on people dropping in a LB7 Duramax. On other forums I’ve found people who have bolted the LB7 to a TH400. Just curious if anyone has any other info on this. Thanks!
Also Yes I know modifying the truck will hurt...
Moved away. I guess I need to update my profile. I enjoyed Washington state but it’s just too expensive for me to want to stay there long term. I will miss the fishing out there in Belfair.
About 7 years ago I bought one off of gov liquidation. Spent the better part of 6 months getting it back road worthy. Within 6 months of getting it running some things came up and we needed cash so a for sale sign went on it. Since then I’ve been sending her links to CUCV’s, half tracks, tanks...
Welp wife suprised the heck outta me on Father’s Day. Took me to go pick up this 1984 M1009. Suprised by how little rust she has. What she lacks in rust she makes up for in electrical issues (fuel gauge doesn’t work, lights flicker, turn signals are in op, etc...) and of like any piece of...
