    smoke at fusible link

Hi Everyone, I'm just following up as I'm still struggling with this problem. I rebuilt the alternator again with all new parts. When i turn the key to run I get a Gen 2 light, when I fire the truck up the light stays on. I got fed up with it and ordered a new alternator from Rare Electrical...

    smoke at fusible link

haha yea, what a learning experience. so its all rebuilt with the insulators. No arcing or shorting out. I replaced all of the fusible links. Everything starts and runs fine, but the gen 2 light stays on. I checked the alternator Key off - exciter = 0v, Red wire on plug = 25v, red wire on...

    smoke at fusible link

Thanks makers - everything inside looks in tact. The smoke didnt come from the alternator, it came from the fusible link and bus bar. i took it all back apart, and insulated that screw. batterys hooked up fine. truck started up fine with no smoke anywhere, but the GEN 2 light stays on. I...

    smoke at fusible link

I noticed the voltmeter in my M1009 moving around a little bit lately when I give it throttle. the front battery tested 14.7 when running and the back battery tested 14.7 while running. However, when I gave them both throttle the rear battery would jump up to 15 -16. I had a rebuild kit handy...

    Good source for inner fender?

I've completely coated the under carriage of my M1009, and pretty much any bare metal that isn't on the interior or a body panel. I did this 3 months ago, and everything still looks wet. It repels water really well and holds up to a car wash. It hasnt snowed much, so there hasnt been a lot of...

    Good source for inner fender?

i bought mine off amazon, and i believe it was sourced from AutoMetal Direct. They fit perfect. When you install the new one remember that you'll need to drill out all the spot welds for the battery brackets. You'll need to reuse those battery brackets.

    M1009 Rear Power Window

    M1009 Brake Caliper Problems

haha - gotta love when that happens brogman. at least you'll be back on the road soon, and didnt end up with a real problem. Everyone who is human has been there. I've certainly shed a few tears in these situations.

    M1009 Rear Power Window

You know what - i didn't even think of that. That's probably why I'm not getting the power I need. Now i just need to figure out how to wire it up. I think this is the wire diagram you're talking about.

    M1009 Rear Power Window

I know this has been covered many times, but I'm looking for some details that I haven't been able to find with the search function. I have all the guts of my m1009 tailgate swapped over to civvy K5 internals. Just finished the half ass job that the P/O set up, otherwise I would not have a...

New Glow Plugs Installed; Starts Worse Than Ever

For what its worth. I just put 8 new wellman 70's in my M1009 because its getting colder, and I haven't changed them since I've owned it. The P.O. put in a pushbutton bypass, and I could start the truck with ease after holding the button 12 seconds with the old plugs. After installing the...
