Came across this gem in CL today

I was trolling for parts when I hit upon this post in the Phoenix Craigslist. I am not reposting here to try and circumvent the classified/premium rules. It is just one of the funniest CL ads I have ever seen, and it just happens to include an M1009.

    Arizona Vehicle Request

My church (Mormon) is holding a young women's retreat/camp the first full week of June near Payson, Arizona. The theme for their retreat is "Boot Camp". The organizers asked if I could take my CUCV up and leave it at the camp for the week as a kind of a prop for photographs and theme...

    How bad is this flywheel?

Thank you for all the help and advice. Reinstalled the starter (without shims) last night. Charged batteries this evening. Fired right up strong and proud on the first try. Back on the warpath now. For my first ever vehicle repair attempt, I couldn't be happier with the results.

    How bad is this flywheel?

since you already have the starter off, check the flywheel to see if the teeth are worn down. If the flywheel looks good, and the starter is good. I have no idea. You sure the starter is getting enough juice?

    How bad is this flywheel?

    How bad is this flywheel?

Got down to fixing my 1986 m1009 this weekend. Chased down all the electrical gremlins. Tried to start her up and got a loud, fast-paced continuous clicking. Figured it was the starter grinding on the flywheel. I was almost certain I needed to replace the starter anyway, so I took off the...

    Odd wire issue

So far I have been able to find all my answers using searches. This forum is an amazing place. Thank you to all of you who have made it what it is. I ran into a problem this week. Background: M1009 – 1985, owned about 3 months. I bought directly from GL out of Nellis. I had it towed to a local...

    New addict from AZ

Hello all. Recently purchased am 84 m1009 out of Nellis with 5,200 miles. Went up to inspect and found it spent its uneventful life as a radiation detection vehicle. Won the auction, towed it off, one battery and a starter later I drove her from Vegas to Phoenix with no problems (once I...
