    You may want to check out the TM. Start off simple and work your way up. No restrictions in the fuel line? Fuel pump working properly? Lastly may be the injection pump.

    OK, it is louder than a 6.2. I think the th400 may have came behind a 6bt in step vans, or I may just be thinking of the 4bt.

    Keep in mind a Cummins will be loud as **** and heavy. Plus the extra expense of adapting it to fit.

    Could have a plugged return line, or the check ball in the ip return could be plugged. You might try running it with the return line running into a fuel jug.

    The engine could be warm enough to have shut off the advance and fast idle solenoids. They are on a separate temperature switch. When the engine has sat overnight check to see if they have power before you start the engine. You should be able to tell when they turn off by the engine speed and sound.

    The fast idle and advance solenoids only have power when the engine is cold. Sounds like you have a restriction somewhere in the fuel line. Glad to hear you're making progress.[thumbzup]

    The reason I posted about the Duramax 6.6l is I considered it relevant to the GM 6.2l. They are both made by GM. They are both motors you're not suppose to use starting fluids in. And I imagine the result from using starting fluid would be similar.
