    Spooky M101A2 camper build

I decided to put on aftermarket lights on mine and the sealed marine lights had a little bracket for a plate so I didn't need to drill.

M101A2 first attempt at a build thread

After I got back I realized I couldn't handle it not having the parking brakes work properly, so I made my own cabling and tensioning system using as much existing hardware and no drilling: After fixing the brakes I got down to some soldering and made removable exterior LED lights using some...

M101A2 first attempt at a build thread

Oh wow, I really haven't updated in a while! Let me overload you! First up, I decided I didn't like the clunking of the broken surge lunette and wanted my trailer to be able to stop itself. I found a local welder who has been trying his hand at offroad trailers, and he and I came up with a...

    New to me M101A2

I'm in Utah, and about to have an extra M101A2 axle available. I had some issues taking apart the hubs, so you'll need new bearings (or to repack and verify they're all there).

    M101Ax lumber quest

What kind of oak do you use and how long is it dried? I don't know if that's a weird question or not, I'm just noticing that all of my screws (after very little trailer use) are coming lose due to my Cedar boards shrinking/drying. I assume it's because I was using fresh cedar and not aged or...

    M101Ax lumber quest

Hello all, I don't know why it's bothering me so much, but in my quest to make new lumber for my M101 racks I came across a lumber yard in the Midwest that sold complete (cut and drilled) lumber kits for these trailers. I can't find the place now no matter how hard I search and was hoping...

M101A2 first attempt at a build thread

Now I'm scared for the next step of taking off the wheels and inspecting the hubs and brakes. I've not done that much mechanic work before.

M101A2 first attempt at a build thread

And now I am super excited to be done.

M101A2 first attempt at a build thread

I finally got a good enough weather patch to water seal my boards. I was worried about the nice redwood color showing, but the Thompson's seems to have fixed that.

    Support leg lubrication question

Quick update: My nipples arrived from amazon, all SAE, and none of them fit! I ran over to autozone, and it looks like the 10mm nipple is the one that's going to work. I hit the parts with some rust-refomer for protection, and then a light military green. I also covered the landing foot with...

    Support leg lubrication question

Thanks! Reading your profile made me realize I joined exactly a year ago when I first thought I might like to own a M105 and then learned a valuable lesson in military trailer sizing.

    Support leg lubrication question

When I bought it it was only missing the support leg in the back and the canvas cover, so I have the bows as well. I just recall not liking the way they sit in the stakes, but now that I think about it, I will need to revisit my opinion once I have my side panels fully finished and back on the...

    Support leg lubrication question

I have a build/restoration thread up - http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?t=145351 . Once I get these leg parts repainted, reassembled, and lubed I still have to water seal my siding planks, assemble my sides, then look into a custom rack to go into them to potentially hold a rooftop...

    Support leg lubrication question

I took a socket wrench to it and removed it. There was rust all over on the inside near the spring and there was an obvious sphere on the tip that didn't budge under pressure. Remiving the nipple also freed a part from inside the support leg that needed rust treatment so it was totally worth it...

    Support leg lubrication question

This is funny. I'm at work and decided to buy a new grease gun nipple for the support leg. The only resource I could find about the 101 leg was... this thread! First time I googled something and my own content showed up. Anyhow, is it a standard fitting size? I don't think I can justify...
