UPDATE:: I found the timing gear on crankshaft had broke half moon key off flush allowing gear to spin on shaft as well... now I have to figure out what caused this? possible crankshaft walk??? cracked main cap??? what??? anybody saw this before?

Did you find it hard to remove timing chain cover?? I have spent over 1 hour trying to get it off! I got the 4 10mm bolts off from bottom of pan and the remaining 4 15mm bolts in cover off also the 2 bolts and 1 nut 15mm behind injection pump gear, IP off etc.... what am I missing here.. I have...

I too use synthetic In my 08 duramax but the 400 friction plates and seals was not designed for that, there are companys out there selling the "wonder" fluids for the application but use at your own risk problems won't show up right away buy what I have seen from this was lip seals swelling...
