I am having an unusual problem. I had an alternator all of a sudden start overcharging and would make the belt squeal. Took it to a shop and they are doing the repairs. In the mean time I purchased a used alternator installed it and everything was fine for 1 week. Now I'm getting the same thing...

Every 4 wheel drive truck I have owned has turned much better while in 2 wheel drive.

We have an m998 We are using for a work/marketing truck. I am considering pulling the front driveshaft to increase mpg and decrease the turning radius. Has anyone done this. Anyone know the power split on the tranfercase? We don't want to damage the truck. Thanks again.

Did you find that brass fitting. I broke mine as well the small one.

Both post on alternator 14v and 28 read 24.5

Ok so we disconnected the wires on the voltage regulator and ran a wire from the fuel solenoid. The green light on the regulator comes on for a brief second then off. Voltage at the fuel solenoid is 23.7. Voltage on both posts on the alternator 24.5. I don't have 24 volts anywhere on the truck...

Thank you all for the great info. I have been looking over the TM's for a while was just curious about everyone's personal experiences. I have to say this is a great group and I feel privileged to be a part of it. I bid on my first m1078 tonight we will see how it goes.

How reliable are they? Honestly thinking about using one for our business as a daily driver.

I am really interested in getting a m1078. What are some common problems/issues with these? I have no experience with them and just looking for some info. Thanks in advance.

I was leaning that way myself. But why the squealing brake pedal?

I forgot to mention when parked and I apply the brakes hard, the truck makes the same squeal.

88 hmmwv power steering staring squealing occasionally now it's constant and steering is very hard. I checked the fluid and its was a little low, so I added some and it helped a bit. I went through the bleeding procedure with a small amount of improvement. Am I missing something? Is the PS pump bad?
