Last week I noticed some broken bolts laying on my crossmember (the one directly below where the trans and the engine join) on my M925. This truck is a recent gov rebuild and it looks as if they might have used the wrong grade of bolts. They installed grade 5 and it has been suggested to me that...
I finally found a nice M54a2c that I could afford. The only problem is the bed is missing. I understand the bed should be similar to a M813a1 drop side bed, but are they exactly the same? I read through some tms and found no clear pictures or descriptions.
Does anyone have specific knowledge of...
OK, I've decided to sell the deuce, and go with a 5 ton multifuel. My concerns are keeping a Vietnam - era truck and keeping a multifuel. GL often has 1970ish M813s available, but they have the Cummings motor.
Would these trucks have come with a multifuel motor originally? More importantly...
WOW! that would be real feat to restore. That being said, a friend asked to store a W C in my yard while waiting for for bodyshop. He brought 2 pcs over and they looked about that bad. He's doing a full restoration.
If you decide to restore it I'll donate a case of Sherwin-william ordnance wash...
I appologize for the delay in my response Grunex. I actually sent Heavy a detailed reply via PM. The local diesel injection shop charges $30 to pressure test and inspect each injector. For the ones that fail inspection they charge for parts individually as needed like nozzels or springs. there...
That's a thought Zout. My first thought was death of a good motor due to unknown circumstances, however you might be right! THERE IS HOPE! I am going out right now to drain the oil, hoping to mitigate any corrosive effects caused by coolant exposure to the crank.
I really appreciate the...
This past summer I bought an XM818 from GL( for a more than fair price). The truck was in great shape and ran well but I haven't even put plates on it yet. I am in Michigan and we have recently had temps down in the teens, so I thought I had better check the coolant on all my equipment. Funny...
Everything went well on the recovery from Lansing yesterday. My 5 ton and lowboy safely made it home. The only problems were with tires. Most tires were at 30 psi or less, and one was flat. I was referred to Cooper tire on Grand river to do the repair and they were great. Tom is a really nice guy...
I recently purchased a XM818 (event 10084 lot 5600) and a trailer (event 10083 lot 5600). I am wondering if anyone has info on either. I have spoken with Tom and he will be in Lansing on 9-22, so I have to get my tools ready. Thanks in advance, Lew
I really appreciate all the good info! Due to high fuel cost I decided to pass on the truck I was bidding on in Pa. THANKS AGAIN TO EVERVONE for the quick posts.
Lew
