This hasn't really gone cold, we just changed gears. We sold the LMTV in the summer of 2017 to Grigsby Trucks. The truck turned out really nice, but for a lot of reasons we had to regroup.
Right now we are almost finished building an expedition truck on a Mercedes Unimog chassis. We loved our...
Thanks, yertnamreg, for posting an alternate way for people to get the model. STEP is a good file format to share. STEP is the original format that I uploaded onto OnShape.
When I originally made that CAD model, I was hopping that it would be helpful for others, so it's really nice to see...
The file in the original post is 3D. I've seen it all over the net since I originally made the model, so it seems to be working for people. You can save it off as an IGES or STEP and open it in almost any 3D CAD package.
After much discussion, we have decided to sell this truck. More details can be found here:

We've been makings steady progress, but you can really start to see it come together recently. All the painting is done and we are starting to reassemble all the refurbished parts.

We are still making good progress; we have just been bad about updating the blog the last few weeks.
We finished all the frame painting. It turned out nice. We just started cab paint prep this weekend.
I get ~29.75″ Pin to Pin. My drive shaft is the "D" upgrade.
For reference, I got a NOS front drive shaft from Equipment Parts Sales of $475 + shipping
NSN: 2520-01-545-0390 matched my existing 1996 M1078 drive shaft exactly.
I think that what I wrote in the original post is still a good expectation of accuracy. It is a "tape measure accurate" model of our M1078.
"The CAD model is fairly accurate for our intended use. The truck bed rails and [habitat] interface areas are probably accurate within 1/8-inch. We...
I posted a 3D CAD model a while back. You can check out the info here:

We just built up our wheels with XZLs for our LMTV. From talking to others that run them, the XZLs seem comparable in many ways to the Michelin XMLs. Some people say they are a little quieter and wear a little better than the XMLs, but we haven't run them yet, so I'm not sure. The XZLs have the...
Yup, it was just to simplify the overall system a little. We actually didn't remove anything; we just capped it off and unplugged the controller, so if we (or a future owner) wants to bring it back, the CTIS controller can just be plugged in again and the wheels plumbed back up. We will see...
