I’m trying to pull local owners together for some camaraderie and camping etc.
The pine barrens are a easy to access spot I discovered. Perhaps I should make a public Facebook page for the NJ crowd if enough people are interested. Let me know if you are “local” for this and interested in...
Just dropped in a new 60 amp alternator. Fired up and after a couple min I noticed a bit of smoke coming from the guts of it. **** down, let cool, fires back up and it did it a bit less after a 2 min idle. Then Shut down. Little smoke for a few sec. then stopped. Now as we know these new 60...
Finally getting around to those clearance lights. What I'm atempting to wire in is the center bar.... three windshield clearance lights of an H1... a positive and negative wire connection. I see the Y connector layout...is that red to be the positive wire and the negative wire I would connect...
Just replaced the EESS, glow plugs and 60 amp alternator. Truck finally starts up like a champ! Though bizarre issue is the voltage gauge. Replaced items, stated up for first time ..great....gauge was low yellow, slowly building to mid and stayed.... at idle sits mid yellow and sits mid green...
Alternator rebuild based on ....
Very good and detailed info!!! I just ordered a new unit but intend on having the old one rebuilt and shelved as a back up. I'll try to document the rebuild and photograph based on what you are describing. Illustrating what actually fails would be a good...

Will give that a try. Appreciate the feedback!
acquiring a voltmeter as I am seeing a strong use for one with this vehicle.
More tools! Love this truck.
Consulted with tech staff at thosemilitaryguys and they stated they have been successful upgrading to the newer EESS without upgrading TSU, never having a problem. But I did some work on the vehicle this past weekend, just swapped out the batteries with some grp. 34 1000 ampers and installed...
Very happy to have the truck. Time to tinker! In prep, have Kascar grounding harness ready to go as I knew that would be important. Will install, then replace with new group 34 batteries. Worst case, new box. Will upgrade to the S3. Received mixed info on the (correct term?)..TSU. If...
