    Short rubber fuel lines

Hello, Are the short lines between the tank and the steel lines a common place for air to enter the lines? I have clear hose under the hood and I see bubbles rising to the input of a spin-on filter. I thought I saw bubbles where I have an electric lift pump down on the frame rail but haven't...

Show me pics of your dash

Thanks guys. These look nice. I kind of like the HMWMV/LMTV minimalist look and I just found a hydraulic hole punch kit at work. If it has the right sizes for gauges I might replace the plastic bezel with a piece of sheet metal. Aleigh, what's the rectangular thing at the top center of...

Show me pics of your dash

My factory gauges no longer work and I'm done messing with the mechanical speedo. I have aftermarket water and oil pressure analog gauges already, a matching tach on the shelf and a electric speedo in the mail. Now just looking for ideas for a gauge layout others have tried. I have an...

Can both battery's go dead if one Alt. is bad?

Sounds like you got it narrowed down. If you see voltage bouncing, especially up toward the high end, it could be a bad battery connection or ground. I found a rusty battery tray by observing occasional voltage spikes that were blowing fuses even though everything seemed fine when in the...

Normal For M1009 To Smoke Under Load?

I'll be the dissenting voice and say that odds are a previous owner messed with the IP setting. If the timing is correct then you're not getting a good burn. Either too much fuel (most likely) or maybe a plugged injector that's not atomizing the fuel enough, an injector popping open too early...

    Intellitronix Digital Dash Replacements

Has anyone tried these on their CUCV? https://intellitronix.com/products/digital-gauges/direct-replacement-dash/chevy-73-87 My speedo adapter died again and I've always wanted a tach where the fuel gauge is... They don't have much info on the site so I'm wondering if anyone has tried the...

    Thermostat: what is normal operation

I should note that the rad thickness is the same as the oem and that the two rows extend all the way back. So the core has the same effective thickness it's just flowing coolant across two longer skinnier tubes instead of 3. I'm sure a mechanical engineer could do the math on the heat transfer

    Thermostat: what is normal operation

Well, I used this one: http://www.genesisautoparts.com/product/all34763X2098aa.htm And it seems fine. I took a peak inside and while it has only two rows the cross sections of the rows look thinner and more elongated than the oem one. So it has more cooling surface area than two rows of the...

    Thermostat: what is normal operation

I was affraid of that. I didn't test the new one though I did with the old (it functioned as expected but still overheated). ugg, looks like I'm pulling it again. like the 10th time in 6 weeks.

    Thermostat: what is normal operation

original radiator? a small leak in it may not be obvious until you're working the engine. so it doesn't leave puddles but seems to consume coolant and develops little or no pressure. I had the same symptoms s while back. it would consume coolant and draw some from the overflow but never...

    M1009 axles under a M1008

Is this going to be a new trend in old trucks? I was is Yuma the other week and started talking with a guy about the old 6.2s and CUCVs. I mentioned that eventually I wanted to get 1 ton gear on my '09. He was interested in my 3.08 setup until I told him how far away I lived. maybe there's a...

    Thermostat: what is normal operation

So now that the "Polar vortex 2.0" boogie man is upon us I've found my water temp doesn't get past 175 indicated. The heater line is only luke warm. Thing is, so is the radiator supply hose and radiator. Should a T-stat flow a little bit of coolant all the time? the thing is only a month...

    Opinions on new radiator

Me too. Champion is cheaper but the dimensions aren't c correct.

    Opinions on new radiator

Are you talking tranny fluid or engine oil? My TH400 died and I replaced it with a Muncie 4 speed. So I need to retain the engine oil cooling but not the tranny. Just a consideration because one can order a champion welded aluminum radiator for less than $200 that has ports for a...

Boost gauge location for 6.5TD setup

Update on this (if anyone cares): Pickup location did make a difference. I plugged the spot I drilled and re-used the port in the center of the upper. However, I also added a female/female NPT coupler and a 2" piece of brass tube on the inside. Enough to make the tube stick down halfway into...
