I am finally about done with my bobbed deuce project, after months of work. I wanted to post sooner, but didn't have time. I mounted a service body, that came off my wrecked pickup, on the deuce. I left room behind the cab for my welder and air compressor to be mounted, just need to make a frame...
Oil in coolant is a good sign of a oil cooler failure. Oil cooler elements have to be pressure tested to find leaks. Only way to know for sure if it's the cooler or not is to test it.
Doing a inframe is no problem with these engines. We do inframes everyday at work on newer semi trucks. Once you have everything out of the way it will be easy to access. Make sure to check the crankshaft really good for scratches. Checking liner protrusion is a good idea too.
Most diesels still vent their blowby or crankcase pressure into the atmosphere. You can have blowby, but there is a point where it gets to be excessive. Engine manufacturers will have blowby specs for their engines.
It's been blowby on the engines I've seen. We get a lot of dusted engines at work. We have engines with liner polishing now, causing oil consumption and sometimes high blowby.
How long of a driveshaft does it have? I'm guessing it's a 2 piece. I'm working on bobbing my deuce and my rear axle is going between where the tandems where. Been trying to find a decent price for a custom driveshaft for mine, driveline shops quoting $800-$1000!
Great replies! Looks like it's a matter of relocating the fuel tank and spare tire to get it low enough for easy access. I'm sure I have enough room so the tires won't rub the bed if I go with singles 1100R20's. Next question is, would the M105 trailer springs handle the weight of the body plus...
I have a used Knapheide 8ft service body I need to do something with, I was wondering if anyone has tried to mount one on a deuce. A bobbed deuce that is. Any ideas or pictures?
Valve clearance is correct and pushrods are ok. When I had the heads off I checked for leakage around valves and no leakage was present, no bent valves or anything.
Went back and checked, I'm getting fuel up to all the injectors. 1,2,4,6 make a sound change when cracked. 3 and 5 don't make much of a difference it seems. Engine blows white smoke when reved up.
Just got finished troubleshooting some more. Removed the #5 injector line from HH and it has fuel spraying out. I took #3 off the HH to compare the spray and it's bout the same to me.
