No, each pin fits loosely into the 3 large holes in the pulley. No need to mess with any fasteners.
Sorry for the crappy doodle.
If it was light out I would take a picture of mine. I'm currently in the process of changing #5 and #6 injectors.
This is the tool I use. Fits into the power steering pump pulley.

OTC Engine Turning Tool For Cummins - 7161
Greetings friends!
Forgive me if this has been covered before, nothing on the topic came up in my searches.
The rear-front axle on my M814 will slide left and right in corners. It shifts on the leaf perches. I can hear a clunk when it happens. I can also see when driving strait the sidewall...
Very nice write up! Thank you for taking the time to share and document so well!
I need to do this job shortly. My rear rear axle is leaking like a sieve (both sides), the rear leaks a bit too, but not as bad.
My fronts need new boots on both sides.
Thanks again!
Found this thread after checking my hubs today after a short 50 mph drive, and some around town stop and go.
Checked by hand, no hubs were hot. Front and mid axle are warm to the touch, but rearmost is only lukewarm. Truck is unloaded.
Just curious why the rearmost hubs would be cooler. Do they...
Yes I have the stock NDCC 11.00x20 tires. If anything, the smaller diameter would make it easier to get to top speed, as top speed on these vehicles are limited by their low gears.
I usually shift at 2100 when accelerating.
I was under the impression that turning the screw was to be avoided, and the button should be replaced if you wish to increase fuel pressure. I could be mistaken though.
Something I had wondered is how far is safe when turning up these engines. I know it depends on how you drive it and what you...
Perhaps I will record a better one and post it here ;-)
I spend a fair bit of time in 3rd gear.
I don't know how much snow there is left. Been really mild here in Ohio, but I know NY is usually... not.
Interesting! I have not checked my tank vent, but I have never noticed any suction when removing the cap either.
I will check it, probably tomorrow.
Good suggestion.
45-50 Up a hill, will not happen in my truck, for sure. 35 maybe. I live in Ohio also, so a hill to me is not really a hill to some.
But maybe you all are right.
I will post an acceleration video sometime.
No I have not, so I guess I don't truly know for sure, but is sure seems that way. It struggles to hit 55mph, even on long, flat stretches of road. It must be driven at full throttle to reach anything above 45. I am downshifting at the slightest inclines. I estimate 0-55MPH time is greater than...
My ears are untrained when it comes to these big diesels. I am just going off my gasser knowledge, which I know are very different.
As far as running it, it still has a low power problem, which I attribute to injectors for a few reasons. I don't think it is an air in fuel problem, as I have a...
Another update my friends!
The other day I went to start the truck, and much to my surprise, it started right up. Hit the starter for maybe 2 seconds. This time I had the primer lever pushed in...
I did not record startup, but here are my temp readings after a few minutes of idling...
