Ouch, i can see why you are worried. How sure are you it is the tranny vs the rest of the drivetrain? Hoping rear end or tube to it could be bad if you have in 2 wheel drive. Can you engage the rear hydraulics?

If it did not have that it probably did not have the rubber covers either? If not get them and replace them while you are doing this project, EI has them. At some point i will get to pull the shafts again just to change the rubber boot seal things.
