30 degrees last night here in Central Texas with frost this morning. Usually does not get too bad here but my customers in North Texas and the Panhandle get the same weather that Nebraska and Kansas gets......25 MPH winds at 20-30 degrees equals a 15 degree windchill most of the winter for the...
I think it would be "recycling" in its best form.....we use military chassis for everything from fire trucks to concrete mixers and water tankers that we build for our customers. With some comfort modifications like custom air ride seats, air conditioning, upgraded heaters, stereo, etc. our...
Two things that always drove me crazy about the M939 Series vehicles was the terrible cab heater systems and the mechanical throttle accelerator foot feed. The heater wouldn't hardly warm the cab period and the old pedal causes response issues and is very sloppy.
That being said, I decided to...
Guys,
The touch pad Allison Transmissions you are seeing was a result of a long range planned MWO (Modification Work Order) planned by TARDEC and TACOM PM-Medium group to replace the MT654 with the 3500 SP (or RDS) Allison you are seeing. There were, if I remember correctly, about 100 of the...
Gentlemen, want to clear up a couple of the statements made. One, the military and DOD never sacraficed higher operating temperatures to appease the EPA. As a matter of fact, the DOD is still running EPA Tier II/III Engines in new production versus the current EPA Tier IV standard which all...

Oh yea, and while I'm thinking about it, we used a Marine Corps MTVR Radiator package with integrated trans cooler, we just used the remote fan off the FMTV. Its a wide booger but height comparable with M939 radiator. I'll dig into my drawings when I get a chance and post later.
Try finding an FMTV oil cooler set-up off a wreck or parts truck if you can find one. I used them on a repower (ordered new) I did for the NGB a couple years back and they work SWEET!

This project is making my mouth water.....for some of your furniture and appliance needs, try: www.discountrvfurniture.comI use them when I do custom sleepers and their pricing is about the best I've seen.
On the configuration, were I going to build one today, along with the other items I've stated, I would run a 6.2 block (pistons are better contrary to popular belief) with 6.5 heads using 6.2 precombusiton chambers (they are bigger).
It can't be debated that propane, on top of any mechanical diesel engine will of course significantly increase power. I don't beleive any of the folks that states it helps fuel mileage. The inherent problem with dumping propane on top of any diesel engine is the extremely high combustion...
