    Slow throttle response on 816

Clock spring went MIA on mine while jaking down a hill with trailer and dozer, kinda interesting trying to get up the other side with only 1/4 throttle, Cummins says they don't make the spring anymore, so I was forced to tack weld the arms together to get full throttle travel back. Adjust...

    "Rescued" M816 Wrecker

:grd: caught up with a trucker buddy of mine the other day and looked over his inventory of dead Freightliners, We came to the conclusion that once the snow breaks I can go shopping for air brake parts,--- pedal, vavles and switches, an air seat or two and some 24.5 steel wheels...

    Wrecker Broken CV Joint

Nice, Machinist called about an hour ago, said he had a plan to finish it up. Basically taking the stock shaft and welding up the PTO side splines, turning it down and cutting 16 splines into it to fit my new high angle 1330 yoke, this yoke has extra long ears so it can run at 30* which...

very true,,,, I wish I could bend his ear about a few things....... like why my front winch likes to drop things, why they put two extension housings in the Garwood/Tulsa power divider crane output.... etc..... etc.... etc.....

    Wrecker Broken CV Joint

Ok, warm weather and off work early today, really sad when you call 35*f and sunny warm,,,, re-installed the old CV shaft on crane drive to check lenght and angle of the dangle. As feared the chassis crossmember was in the way. After much deliberation I came to the conclusion that it had...

quick ideas please, cold weather issues

on our older M809 series trucks without an air dryer, it tends to be a chore, If your installing an air dryer it is to your advantage to plumb in a service port to make it easier on you to pour in some airline antifreeze without having to remove side panels and continually remove fittings...

    Wrecker Broken CV Joint

Thanks red, the ultimate fix is a hydraulic setup, I know I will have to convert sooner or later, but this will get me up and rolling for less than a grand hopefully, however I want to start making proactive tracks toward hydraulic so that I'm not stuck when the 10speed mod goes in.

    Wrecker Broken CV Joint

I doubt the shaft could pass above crossmember, the pic does the actual config no justice. I need to get the CV mocked up and shoot an angle and lenght to start chopping the old shaft for extension. I will likely have to pass through or cut out a section of that crossmember Tune in next time...

In directly the mod dropped my tach. I am now taching out at 1900 instead of 2300 before. I know there is an issue in either fuel delivery or the PT pump itself, Thus, if there are any issues with your system this mod will point them out to you.... when it works like its supposed to,, its...

Removing the 4 bad 6TMF Batteries and replacing them with group 27

Since you live in Florida, the 27s will be ok,,,, Those of us in colder climates stick with the 8Ds or the Group 31s... better price, and a lot more power for the long haul...

    "Rescued" M816 Wrecker

Red, I run 4 batterys in mine, I wish I had 8 some days.... I will see if I can dig up a pic of how I modded my battery box. basically I cut the middle wall out of both and welded them together, then removed the ribs in the bottom so the batteries sit on the floor,---with a wood 1x6...
