Hey General, Glad to hear that you were able to breathe some type of life back into that ol' hoss. I'm not suprised that it made some racket, especially after sitting up for 10 plus years. I'll try the grease and WD40 first to see what happens. I would bet (or am hoping) that this will fix the problem.

Like i say, I know absolutely nothing about this. Would it be feasable to take the entire mechanism off and soak it in a parts cleaner?

o.k. I will check into this. Will it hold the truck on a grade if working correctly ??

well, i am guessing that is screwed all the way down, however this truck came from the east coast so could it be possible that the cable is rusted up??
