I concur it's the older XL tires that have the wavy sidewalls that are prone to the blow outs. Although ALL versions of the tires have had blow outs it is the XL that is the oldest version and is the most prone to it.
You mentioned that you turned A control to off and "one side parked" and the other side kept going......Did you turn off the control for the drivers side? Each wiper is controlled by their own switch (one on each side of the steering column.
Well your truck is a M925 (dual tires)
Your serial number shows that it was #551 so I am going to go out on a limb and say it's a M925 and is a 1983 based upon the Serial number as I found other 1983 M925 with serials below yours and above yours

CCA = COLD Cranking Amps @ 0* F
So if your battery is rated as 550 CCA then you have 550 cranking amp at 0*F and would have even more amps available at warmer temps . Some batteries list CA or MCA on them and some list...
Well then in that sense yes I would agree I have had defueling but at the time of my original reply it wasn't about the AFC but having the system defuel prior to reaching governed speed....Anyways back to everyone's studying and interpretations :-)
