5 Ton Springs for the Deuce Rear

I think the M105 springs are deuce front springs, but with an added overload pack. I could be off base on that, but I'd poke around the TMs a bit before I gave up on them.

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

I can't answer that except to point out a couple fof things that he mentioned in this post. He was frustrated with the air on his truck, and decided it needed to go. He didn't need "better" brakes, he needed "different" brakes. Ones that would operate without the air system in place. He...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

You posted while I was posting... I do not agree that the fronts automatically should recieve more pressure. Ford decided somewhere near the 350 must be the point where the rear brakes should start to recieve more "effectiveness" than the front brakes. International, Freightliner, Chevy...

    Deuce tire question

I've seen a lot pf pictures of deuces (and five tons) from Viet Nam with highway steer tires on the front instead of NDTs. More on gun trucks, but I suspect that is because I've seen a lot more pictures posted of gun trucks here than "regular" task vehicles. I know why it would make sense...

engine top front oil leak question

PS magazine has an article describing that and advising that (modest to moderate) leakage is not a concern. Big leaks however are a concern. If the guys above me are right (they usually are) then that leak will appear to be nowhere, until it's all over the place, just as you describe.

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

First, let me clarify that I was refering specifically to the HydroMaxx in that statement. I was not suggesting that the Super Duty brakes were appropriate or recommendable on something this size. But, that is indeed exactly how the Hydromax are set up. On a given chassis you will find...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

You would be correct IF you took the master cylinder apart and welded all the parts together. A dual outlet cylinder does not work like this. Volume is variable by design between the front or rear circuit. it does not matter if one circuit takes more. Neither builds pressure until both meet...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

You guys are over thinking this... There is no "proportioning" in this. None needed, none wanted. Equal pressure to all wheels gives "factory" proportioning. That's what you have now, that's what you want. A split master with equal bores front and rear inherently does this. Pressure in the...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

A single way "conversion" like is described in the original post does not gain the redundancy of a dual circuit, even though there are two outlets. A dual circuit for redundancy IMHO would be worth while if you are choosing to upgrade the brake system anyhow. As for splitting the brakes on one...

Goodyear radials SUCK in the snow!!!

I'll agree, the weight, or more correctly the PSI of ground pressure applied makes a huge difference in snow/ice conditions. Your front axle will be doing 70 percent of the "pulling" with an empty truck. Stick something heavy in the back.

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

three and three wouldn't work, but most of them have the same bore in the front and rear chamber (equal pressure at all circuits) so a front/rear split would work, or even a front/front rear and rear rear split would work. Or "commonizing" the lines gives all the benefits except for the split...

    Selling in the Forums

Personally, I don't see that the classifieds "needs" a dedicated button, I did find it on the old forum, and found it easily here because it's pretty much the same there as it is here. It still does not seem intuitive to me that it would be on the "resources" tab however. Not wrong at all...

    90W GL-1 as fuel?

Not only will it run fine, it will run EXCELLENT on the used gear oil. A bit of gas or diesel fuel to thin it a bit so it goes through the filters easier is highly recommendable. As is pre-straining or filtering to the best of your abilities of course.

    1 or 2 hole injectors

I have no proof, but my logic would follow that less atomized fuel would be better suited to straight gasoline in this application... However they will still burn gasoline acceptably (for it's intended use as an "emergency" fuel") with the two hole injectors. Further speculation on my part...

Can a Deuce to tow a Deuce on a trailer without a CDL ? Yes.

Here is what is missed... First, the CDL is required when the COMBINATION exceeds 26K, not the prime mover. Second, the way these guys are getting away with this is just as you figured. They will not pull you off the road if you don't exceed the mechanical limit of your machine. They TICKET...

    Deuce front winch

First off, search this forum for "shear pin" and you will find overwhelming results that are kind of cumbersome to sort through, but is probably worth your time. The conclusion is that grade five bolts are way too much. Here is one excellent post from the above search (but I had a username...

    Gear Splitter

Yeah, It's kind of like a Brownie. It' a two speed auxillary transmission with direct and overdrive. I'm not sure there is two on there... I think it's for the rear only, thus requiring that it be set to direct prior to engaging the front drive. Yes, it is something that you could mess up...

Try Using U-Ship to Move MVs

The beauty and the downfall of a service like U-ship is the sheer volume of contractors looking for the job. You can and often will find someone who is looking only to cut their losses, and need not actually turn a profit. If your timeframe matches theirs, it's a good thing. The downfall is...

    low air alarm

It's a simple device to test. A low air condition causes battery positive to be applied to the single wire going to the buzzer box, and it is grounded via it's case. Drain the tanks down, flip the main switch on, check for power at the wire to the buzzer. If power is not present, check the...

    Gear Splitter

I havn't seen one in a very long time. They're kind of big. Suspension movement will be an issue, pretty much making it an "on road only" proposition... Here's pics, I don't think he's selling them but it wouldn't hurt to poke around. Erik's M35A3 (owner of Erik's Military & Industrial Surplus)
