NAPA sells a grease gun adaptor/tip that's a tube with a nylon cup on the end that you push agnst the fitting to inject grease, the other thing to do is change the fitting with one that'll angle to your need.
The other thing that just occured to me; Is the Parking Brake FULLY released? Nothing blocking the lever? That transmission has more power in reverse than in forward gears (remember the thing about NOT putting the transmission in Reverse with the transfer case in Low Range)
The lever is only a piece of flat stock with a couple flats cut in the hole where its nutted to the shaft going inside; it's possible that nut came looks and stripped/damaged the flat-stock lever, hence the suggestion to remove the cable connection and manually move it; if it's loose/worn you'll...
The Neutral safety switch has two wires: power in and in the N position power out. That's not what I'm referring to; look on the other side for a device with a fluid line going in and out. I'm thinking it was something to do with the PTO buy just don't remember. I'll ask around the Shop today...
The transmission is a combination of hydraulic pump and mechanical gear box. The Torque converter has two functions; it transmits power to a pump that supplies pressurized oil while rotating gears inside. When engaged, the fluid is diverted to the proper piston which applies pressure to a clutch...
Again, look at the TM; I prefer the Parts book when looking at exploded diagrams, makes things much easier than "assembly (10) is attached to (3) outside of (12)..." drives me nuts!
A broken band strut or similar would still leave you with some forward gears ..[/ QUOTE]
NO - low is all forward clutches disengaged, all forward bands engaged. A busted band, ripped off lining or dropped pin would give nothing forward because have to have speed to shift up and...
Go to the TM section, find TM9-2320-272-24P-1 down load it and look at illustration 198. The Transmission itself is an Allison MT654 with an NSN of 2520-01-117-3010 (Allison PN# 11669085) There's also a modulator valve on the side that's connected at the throttle linkage; it could be "stuck"...
Here's what I would do: First check the lever on the side for operation; remove the cable and the lever should "click" between ranges. IF you're comfortable with it; set the brakes, chalk the wheels where it CAN MOVE and with the linkage disconnected manually shift it to see what happens. All...
Not knowing your mechanical level or experience, let me caution you about the fuel filter: It's big, heavy, and when full of fuel awkward to install. There's a square cut o-ring that seal the canister to the base that will slip out of place and/or fall out. IT MUST HAVE A GOOD TIGHT SEAL else...
There's the possibility of using a tow-bar and a Dump Truck or some other truck with a Pintle hitch.....worst part (I suspect) would be paying the Tolls to get on/off the Island.
FWIW: The plan to head down and back has been pushed off another couple weeks due to Insurance woes; on the up side I've an opportunity to possibly purchase a LOT of green iron this weekend.
I went down back last friday and saw an old Satalite convertable in pretty rough shape: I knew about that one but had forgotten. I'm not real knowledgeable of old MOPARS, just enought to be dangerious.
At a Show in Rochester last weekend: there was a very nice looking 900 series 5-ton there for...
He retired to Florida several years ago, his Office was right across Rte 11 from Dobbin's
I'll have to go down back and look for the GTX, a lot of stuff has been pulled out of the weeds; most were crushed, some were saved....lots of "interesting" items there....few things I need to drag back out...
Well FWIW I live all but across the road from Gordon and have been friends for 15+ years. No GTX's if there were I'd already have it. I believe he's planning an auction some time in May......lots of parts from dismantled M151's He's also got at least 7 of the old 1/4 ton trailers that belong...
It's a good eight hour ride from Fort Drum/Watertwown to downtown Manhattan....FAR better that way. As for Firearms: NYS just passed the "SAFE" act which heavily discriminates against anything that looks like a Military Rifle and magazines over ten rounds. DO NOT, ABSOLUTLY DO NOT bring...
