Hi guys hoping maybe this has happened to someone else and they know what my problem is. A while back I went to start my Humvee and had no power when I turned the key on. Checked and cleaned connections and grounds everywhere I could think of and got nowhere. Just out of curiosity I ran a wire...
Having some wiring issues on my Humvee which led me to check voltage under the cover on the alternator. Wire 2A which is a small wire reads 14.2v while running. That would be correct voltage for a 12v system but I didn’t know the 60amp had any 12v outputs.
Wire 2A is the wire from ignition to...
If you need to jump start it just hook one vehicle (or charger) to one battery like you normally would and then hook your second vehicle or charger to the other battery like you normally would. That way you are getting 12v (14.4 ideally) to each battery. If you hook positive lead from charger or...
Just did my front drive line on my ‘87 today and they take 1-0153 Neapco. 3.25” outside edge to outside edge of caps both directions. Got the wrong one the first time and it was 3.25x3.75.
If you can solder you could cut the old plug off and put a new one on that wiring harness. The connectors have part numbers you can google and get new connectors.
I ran into that same problem. My issue was the rubber on the wiring harness side, where the wires go into the plug, had corrosion bad but I couldn’t see it. When I unscrewed the plug on top of the box the center pin from the box came with it. I used a dremel tool and cleaned up where the pin...
I order the cheaper half shafts from Autozone. Knock the ABS rings off and they fit perfect. I have a set in the rear end of my 87 M998 and around 30,000 miles on them and no issues. I have beat it through the hills, pulled dump box trailers full of railroad rock (around 16,000lbs), and helped...
Did you mount your AC unit on the roof or on a bracket to free up the truck bed?
It was mounted there when I got my Humvee. I will get pictures of it later.
These are Dick Cepek 17” rims and Dick Cepek Radial FC II 37x13.5x17 tires. Not sure what the offset is but they don’t stick out bad. They do great both on and off-road. One nice thing is you can remove your half shaft bolt without taking the wheel off. Handy if you ever need to replace a half...
Off-road in snow the Humvee is unstoppable. Unfortunately on pavement with snow or ice it’s also unstoppable. You just skid what ever direction momentum is taking you. Off road they will plow through snow windshield deep. So far I haven’t plowed into a drift I couldn’t back out of and with...
Which box do you have now? Have you opened it to see what’s damaged inside? I just replaced the MOSFETS in my my KDS S3 box and it cost me $7 for parts vs $1,000 for a new box. If everything works except glow plugs you can build a stand alone glow plug controller with a push button to cycle them...
100% my fault they burned. I unhooked my S3 box with the batteries still hooked up. When I pulled the connector under the dash there was a spark hot enough to leave a small notch in threads of the connector.
Kinda surprised there wasn’t more damage in the box. I had major corrosion in my wiring...
Just thought I would give an update on my progress. Ordered new MOSFETS from Mouser for $3 each and had them at my door two days later. Half hour with a soldering iron and the olds ones are out and new ones in. Put the box back in my Humvee, turned the key and “Wait to Start” light came right...
I was wondering if anyone has put different springs or shocks on their Humvee? I don’t ever haul anything and the biggest thing I pull with my M998 is my jet ski so I don’t really need the stiffness of the 1 1/4 ton suspension. I am trying to find out if any 3/4 or 1 ton variable rate springs...
