    Decisions on M1008

I can agree with that. The jest of the link is that the supplier on ebay is not isolating the ground. Isolation the ground on the passenger side will fix the current problem. I read the boards here and have been around these trucks at work and it just seems that there is always problems...

    Decisions on M1008

I am considering converting to 12 volt. I am having ALT problems on my M1008. I bought a new ALT of ebay and installed it on the passenger side. I checked out the drivers side and all is well. I am having a similar experience to this thread...

    No Lights! Help please...

I had his problem with my truck. Every light interior/exterior would go out. It was a loose connection to the blackout light switch. Mine would cut out at the worst times...like on a gravel road, in the pitch black of night, at around 40 mph.

    Spare tire on front

It def works, but the proper thing to do is fab up a steel bumper for that use. You want a real solid smack as opposed to a bump when dealing with vehicles.

    M1008 Lift/Tires Installed

Its pretty level with just a touch of nose dive. With the spare tire and fuel cans in the back, it sits level. I think this will vary with different trucks.

    Spare tire on front

For military use, you would not place a tire there because it hinders ramming blocked vehicles from your path. You get a bounce instead of a solid push.

    Solargizer?

I am familiar with these on GMV's and saw the duece threads on here about them. I did a search before I posted of "solargizer AND CUCV" and came up with these 4 threads: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/search.php?searchid=126033 I also did a search of "solargizer AND M1008" and came up with...

    Solargizer?

Solargizer, are they worth it on a M1008? Has anyone had any luck or bad luck with these? Are you all mounting them on the hood like on GMV's?

    M1008 Lift/Tires Installed

Sorry for the late reply, The truck has a 4" lift and 37" Hummer radials. The front has tuff countrys and the rear the ORD shackle flip. I got the lift pieces from Off Road Design. I highly recommend them. I have a corrected pitman arm as well. Future plans include rear disk brake...

    12V Starter on M1008

This thread has me worried about it http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?t=29462&highlight=12V+Starter also, I would think converting it to a 12V system would make it easier and cheaper to work on. Is that not true? What make the 24V system easier to work on? The advantage I see with...

    12V Starter on M1008

I searched and discovered previous posts on this problem. I recently had a starter replaced on my M1008 and I think a 12volt was put on. I have not had any problems yet but would like to fix it quick before I do. I think I am just going to go ahead and do the 12V conversion. Does anyone have...

Typo M1008..late night Well I had an AAR with my friends. We had the Impact Wrench out there that night and it was put on that adapter as well as all the others. I was going to check and retighten them but was going to wait a couple days. I found on ColoradoK5 similar incidents with people...

    Wheel Spacer/Adapter Fiasco

fixed it, 2" adapters Many people use adapters/spacers. Heck, some auto manufacturers ship vehicles from the factoy with them.

    Wheel Spacer/Adapter Fiasco

Well, had a little problem today. Last night, I put 4 38x12.50 swamper sx's on H1 wheels on my m1009. I used 2" adapters/spacers to get the backspacing right on the truck. Last night, testing it out, I got a little death wobble. Nothing too bad though. Today, driving around by my house...

    12V Winch

Thanks for the picts. My first measurement of my 15,000lb winch led me to believe that it will hang down quite a bit. I was also concerned with road grim stuff. It also isn't the best place to use it here in the MS (mud..etc). I am going to remeasure tomorrow. This winch is a monster! I...
