I've been lurking here for a while and wanted to thank the the SS folks for their knowledge as well post my slow-roast of a build.
I bought a 2002 1078A1 just over a year ago and between my day job and fighting with the county about where I can park it has made things difficult when it comes...
I've replaced the military switch with a simple switch. I am considering making the keyed switch work with a relay to the lights so there isn't a switch at all.
What does an electronic dash set-up like that cost your clients?
Yeah those are the same LED's I put in, previously in this thread there was talk of longevity so I was curious to know if anybody has installed load equalizers. I would not have thought they were in the bulb themselves, it's not in any of the specs I've seen.
Anybody put load equalizers on their 12v wire into the housing to promote longevity of the LED's?
I also found that Truck-Lite part #18085Y is the same marker for the truck, do a search online, they sell for about $18 each.
So I've torn my dash out to send to powdercoat and that means the diagram on the bottom of the panel cover is getting roasted off. I have rebuilt it in Illustrator to have it engraved on the underside. I'm only missing a couple pieces due to a blurry image.
On the far left it says 24 VOLT IGN...

I've removed the steering wheel to pull the dash apart for powder coat and I figured while I was at it I should replace it (it's in rough shape). It looks like it's a 36 spline 7/8 to 1" in diameter. Does anybody know what this equates to on another truck (i.e. GM or freight liner) so I can get...
Yeah I've actually come across a few videos of liner installs that have gone wrong when done by professionals. I try to be a do-it-yourself kind of guy but I also like to know when something is out of my league. This is probably one of those things.... Might have been in the realm of...
Aerman,
I am going to do a four way stretch felt from an audio or fabric store. That's an interesting method using the pegboard, have you seen a write-up on that anywhere?
I am using several different kinds of Dynamat. The first layer on the ceiling, doors, and rear quarter panels is Dynamat Xtreme. The Second layer on the ceiling and first on the rear of the cab is to fill the valleys is called Dynaliner it comes in different thicknesses (I'm using 1/2"). The...
I'm in the middle of sound deadening right now. I have done the doors, rear quarters and ceiling in Dynamat. I have boxes of the stuff ready to fill out the rest of the cab and the underside of the cab sitting in my garage (not to mention new door gasket material). Even so, with just the first...

I found it all on Flea-bay. If you just buy some welding wire, copper eyelets, heatshrink and a crimper you should be all set.

They fit as expected. Not sure if I can put in 4 more at this size. I went with low cost and easy availability. I'll post some additional info and photos in a few days.
