Just another no-lift CUCV with HMMWV tires thread. :-D
Should be fine around town from the looks of the rubber travel stops on the suspension. I used the aluminum 2 piece adapters and wheel/tire assemblies from Rodney up in Wisconsin. Without trimming I could only drive in straight lines. But...
I got 3 - 90%, run flat, 12 bolt, mounted Wranglers from Feltz last week. Put on a pallet and shipped out that day, down to the Chicago area for a little over $500, good source, good guys to deal with. Rodney and Dustin.
After all my messin' around with the LMC covers, which looked great when I finally got done. I ended up covering them up anyway with the Smittybilt tactical molle covers. So all my handiwork got covered up anyway. Those wire-nuts you see under the dash were just temporary, during the gauges...
LMC bucket seat covers don't fit and need a lot of custom work to get 'em to fit.
For $199 not a bad price. It was my first 'do it yourself' upholstery job.
To clarify; the bottoms fit AOK. I used contact cement on the recessed areas to get it to stay down in the contours.
The seat-backs are too...
Smittybilt 5661031 GEAR O.D. Green Front Seat Cover
There is SO much size adjustment in the webbing they'll fit anything. Just be aware the straps have Velcro on both ends, I thought I was in 'short strap' trouble for a while. And they come with a mess of Molle pouches which I have yet to...
They are the Smittybilt ones, they're for sale all over the place, I think I went with Amazon for the free shipping back then. But a Google search shows everyone's killing each other at $99 plus free shipping nowadays.
If your dash was as bad as mine I bedlinered that too, covered ALL the sins & it was cheap. I like the hose out cleaning aspect of the bedliner cockpit.
The LMC upholstery is close but made for wider seatbacks at the top. If you are creative with gluing some extra foam up there you can stuff 'em to fit.
You can also do a little fold at the seatback bottom to make it fit. All in all, I would not do it again, and I ended up covering 2 weeks of...
I've used one of them hacksaw blade holders... forever. Till about a year ago when I sprung for a battery recip saw.
I laughed at the battery reciprocating saws when they first came out and said who'd ever have a need for them. But after getting one, I probably use it as much as the drill. Home...
:-D
CJ, You can probably slide it right over the tow hook square tubing, and make some 'custom' spreader bars for their distance apart. Surplus HMMWV tow hooks work pretty good on those wider 2' hitch tubes.
Looks good, all 'built in' like that.
I used the same winch too. I welded the universal mount to two receiver extensions, HMMWV tow hooks fit them instead of the narrow CUCV ones. I added a detachable push bar assembly just for fun.
I replaced the original 'well worn' rear seat with these lightweight aluminum APC folding seats off Ebay. I mounted them on a couple of aluminum extrusions and used the original locking bar. And yes that's a 383 green color matched Line-X interior.
Thank you cpf240, it works just as you say. The left switch is only for the driving light in the grill. The right switch down position is for the blackout marker lights in the bumpers.
I'm fine tuning the M1009 and have a problem with the blackout lights not switching off. They turn on with the 'right switch' in the blackout light down position but the left switch won't switch them off. I got the wiring diagram out, seems like a latching relay not 'unlatching'? Anybody with a...
Here's Nates 4X4 carrier, Gerry cans, HiLift, Spare. I know it took me a while(like two years) to get this mounted and it was only 4 carriage bolts!
