When you park your Deuce on a inclined driveway........

Help yourself! Moderators are pretty good when roasted over a low heat for a week or so.

The Deuce vs. HOA's: How do you guys deal with it?

Albin If you ever get over towards Atlanta, you can drop by and play with my deuce. I am about 40 miles West of Atl, and about 10 miles south of I-20

    LDT-465-1D rod and main torque??

Let me check the manuals when I get home tonight. Which engine do you have?

When you park your Deuce on a inclined driveway........

Bomar I would remove and destroy the driveshafts. You could also look into digging a large hole and burying it between uses.

2-1/2 ton rockwell spindle nut locks

How did you do the rear suspension? 4 link?

Give me a brake! opinions please (UPDATE)

Girlfriends are like that. They look like more fun than trucks. Looks are deceiving. Men are stupid. We tend to want to upgrade Girlfriend 2.0 to Wife 1.0. It's about 1 year after you upgrade Girlfriend 2.0 to Wife 1.0 that trucks look like more fun. After another year, you know trucks are...

How much does a deuce transmission weigh?

The tranny probably weighs 300# or less. Throw a hydraulic engine hoist in the back of the truck and set it with that. I used to do that when I would buy something heavy in someones back yard. I would set the hoist on some pieces of plywood, pick up said heavy object, then back the pickup under...

Posi / spool / open rears WHY WHY WHY

Again, let me stress that sand tires are very different from mud tires. If you run mostly in sand, look for wide, soft, radials with a non-agressive tread. Shift the weight back to lighten up the front end. Mud running is where you need the agressive treads, although the weight transfer to the...

When you park your Deuce on a inclined driveway........

Richard Using an F-150 to chock a deuce is a bit on the overkill side. A VW bug would be better, it is even shaped like a wheel chock.

    wheel bearings

The wheel bearings are all packed with grease. If you have a hot hub, check brakes for drag. If that is OK, clean and pack wheel bearings. Burning a wheel bearing is a bad thing, you can easily ruin a hub and axle housing assembly.

    wheel bearings

What did you fill with gear oil? The differential? Not the hub, I hope. That will mean wheel bearing repacking time.

When you park your Deuce on a inclined driveway........

My fuel shutoff cable doesn't stay all the way pulled, so i never leave it in gear. Mine starts at the first bump of the starter, so I would be afraid to leave it in gear.

The Deuce vs. HOA's: How do you guys deal with it?

Al It is always easier to get forgiveness rather than permission. I told my wife I was having a mid-life crisis. She had her choice between a corvette (ugh!), a new Dodge diesel 4x4, or a deuce.

Posi / spool / open rears WHY WHY WHY

Look at Berg supply. He has a lot of the current military radials in stock at good prices. 1100, 12.50, 1400, and 385's. They have a good looking tread design (Michelin XL). You can run 1100's on the stock wheels, that is what I have on mine. I have heard you can run the 12.50's on the stock...

    Truck Nuts ?

No offense taken, we all need a good laugh around here from time to time. I get mine every morning when I sneak up on my bathroom mirror.

Posi / spool / open rears WHY WHY WHY

Spools are great for sand drags, or dragsters. They are really bad for street use. Your turning radius will be, say, 100 yards in Fla sand. It will start to plow when you least want it to, trying to ease by a large pine, for instance. I grew up in NW Fla, so I can speak of driving big trucks in...

    4th of July

The rebuild depots are planning to be really busy. MCLB Albany is adding capacity. Most of the Marine's equipment will need an overhaul after a couple of years in the desert. Tracked vehicles get hit really hard by the sand.

    dual circuit brake system

Put me down for a copy as well. I would like to get that one on the deuce manual CD.

    Seriously modding an M105a2

Bob I was looking at my trailer, looks like it would not be hard to do. You might build a tilt bed trailer, that to me is often easier than dovetailing. What about a deuce bed mounted on the M-105? Use deuce Budd nuts to make it a dual wheel trailer. Hinge the bed a little in front of the...

    4th of July

I had 1 of the 2 MV's in the Carrollton parade. The other was a WW2 Jeep that looked terrific. I got a whole lot of waves, and the flag flying from the rear of the troop seats got plenty of salutes from the veterans along the route. I had my 78 yr old father-in-law in the cab with me (Army...
