I was in China not too long ago and these were very common. I am surprised that we don't see more of them here (especially in homes that don't have natural gas water heaters).
Yeah, you do need to be mindful of battery drain under my setup. I actually use two of the 720 watt converters and I have ran the stereo, amp, and PA's all night by accident once and the truck still fired right up in the morning. Having the security of the 3rd, independent, battery is...
I made the two switch panels (one on each side of the steering wheel) out of 2" angle aluminum. Very easy to work with and it can found easily at you local home improvement store. After I cut the brackets to length, I just determined the number of switches I needed and then drilled equally...
apache, I respect your opinion but for the installation of a simple stereo, CB, and DC accessory outlet, a $25-40 converter is the way to go. It is far less expensive, can be mounted nearly anywhere, no custom bracket needed, and can be done extremely quickly. A 12v alternator in this case...
Don't get discouraged buddy. Sometimes it can take pretty thick skin to deal with folks here (especially when you are the new guy) but I assure that they mean you no harm and for the most part are a great group of people who would bend over backwards to help you out. Some can be real anal about...
If that is all you are running you could probably get buy with one of the 720 watt voltage converters that Pyle makes. You can find them on amazon for less than $40. I have pictures of mine (I have two) earlier in this thread. I would not go though all the trouble of installing a 12v...
Thank you greatly for the compliment! :D I'm enjoying your build thread as it unfolds. That truck of yours is mighty slick!
Unfortunately, for the GT vs UGA game, I'm committed to going to a game watching party at my buddy's house in Smyrna.
I can definitely help you when it come to...
I don't think that would be the case though if he removed the tank from the truck. That is what I originally had in mind when I suggested using the tank to hold WMO.
You can get a really nice deuce for $10,000. Are you looking more at the A2's or A3's?
While you're looking for your deuce, let's see some pictures of that 1968 Cutlass! :D
A very good buy considering the pump, tank and winch. Can you use the tank it to store fuel? If so you could really take advantage of the multi fuel engine if you had or could find a waste oil source.
You really don't even have to go through that trouble. You can prove it mathematically very easily if you know just a little information.
For argument sake, assume the following:
Original Setup
Engine RPM = 2,500
Original Tire Diameter = 40"
Speed = 45 mph
Potential Setup
Engine RPM = 2,500...
My A3, according to GPS, goes about 47mph at 2,700rpm (with stock 14.5 x 20). I really don't like to run it wide open like that, just to stay above the minimum interstate speed. Ideally I would like to run about 60ish mph at 2,100rpm.
OP, You are a brave man to open this can of worms.
I use to watch them spray my grandad's peanuts. The really good ones would have peanut vines wrapped around their wheels when they would pull up.
