What is/are some basic mods to improve the performance of the NHC250? I don't want to go crazy, I sure as heck don't want to "roll coal", but with 53" tires the ol girl is about as gutless as the day is long . I have read through the threads and see a moderate turbo with a modest bump in...
Does this truck have ABS? If not leave double the room you would between yourself and the vehicle you are following. You say first big truck? Experienced with air brakes? Keep your speed down. Not trying to freak you out, just approach the whole thing with a bunch of respect.
If opt for the one called out. 24V will kill the civilian one (12V) in time. They aren't engaged much, but still.
The H1, from 1991 (I think) on, uses the 4L80E, different kettle of fish.
The TH400 uses a vacuum modulator (in gas applications) to set shift points and shift firmness, AND a kick...
Finished rebuilding one of the piggyback spring brakes. Got all the diaphragms to finish the entire brakes. Sourced the missing failsafe module form a member here in SS. Dragged out my stash of gauges and started working the over in anticipation of re-conditioning the instrument panel.
Thanks. Are you saying to put the pancake in after the housing has engaged the the two ears?
The service diaphragm is marked "Rockwell D10"
3 to 5 minutes would be awesome!
Started the long job of changing out the spring brake diaphragms. Not a fun day :x. Started at Napa and of course they don't have size 16. But Whetford's down the street had them. Bought four of them and a brand new American caging bolt and nut. Off to the truck (an hour away in the mountains)...
Lots of options, thanks. Going to contact Vintage Air and see if they can equip their systems to 24V. If Im going to do it might as well do it right ;-). Im spoiled by my daily drivers, so I would like bi-level automatic control (why not?). Perhaps if V/A doesn't support 24V systems a change to...
Im actually looking forward to tackling this job. I design and work with very high pressure equipment (20Kpsi) at work. I have the safety side drilled into me. Ive been reading all I can on this job. The two things that are starting to stand out are 1) the condition and quality of the caging...
It drives, but I won't do it anymore, LOL. The guy I bought it from disclosed that there was a problem. It was delivered in place with the spring brakes caged. He had me drive it around an open field, and I did so slowly, no faster than the mechanical part of the parking could could stop me.
I...
Hello forum. I just picked up a M931A1. I spent the day working my way through the Air Brake system. Ive had the double checks out and inspected them, also the hand brake air valve.
Ive gotten the truck to where once its started and idling, pressure rises in primary and secondary system at...
California is all messed up. I know of two guys who recently licensed HMMWVs and two others that got their plates recalled. Seems the left hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.
Thank you for the help. Will crack the lines next time I get to work on it. I didn't mention but even with the GPs out it cranked slowly and uneven, at least slower than i would expect with no plugs in. And would only crank a few revolutions before dragging the batteries way down.I pulled the...
Spent the day with the old girl today. Got enough cobbled together to try for a compression test. New fangled digital military test gear turned into a time sink, hours and never got a real reading. While testing cylinder 1, all other glow plus out, she'd pop on that cylinder (like trying to...
