Welcome to Steel Soldiers, Niuhi!
I'm located just a little east of you in Kenmore. All my stuff is M37 & M42 but I can talk to you about sound deadening and insulation. There are also a number of small shops in the area that work on old military stuff.
In my truck (M37 / M42) the black wire is always the hot wire. White or green is the ground wire.
That is just me however. Military uses (or used) black for hot on my truck so I didn't want to confuse the wiring with different colors on the hot wire.
YMMV
I have one of those in my M37/M42. Great little unit; it runs on house current (120 AC) or 12 VDC or 24VDC. It draws 3 amps max (12 & 24 VDC) and keeps things at exactly 40.5 degrees (F) which is what your kitchen refrigerator is supposed to be set at. It is also little and light (about the same...
I put two of the 6TL's in my little truck when I did the 100 Amp Generating System conversion and Battery Box modification contained in the Tech Bulletin.
It was a tight fit, but not some "impossible dream" installation.
If possible, you might just want to go have a look yourself to be sure...
Seabee, if you buy a M37, it is YOUR truck. You get to do whatever you want to do to it or with it.
Some people like to keep them stock, some do minor modifications some do major redesigns. On your truck you exercise absolute "command discretion" and you have 100% control of the budget.
So...
My wife always says that with a smile.....
The truck is the only thing of mine that has been around longer than her, so that kind'a protects the truck.
We'll have to see if my son or daughter wants the truck eventually; it would be nice if they did, but we'll have to wait and see.
In the...
This is absolutely true for dual wheels that will fit the M37. The real problem however, as always, is the shipping on M37 wheels. It usually is more than the cost of the wheels (and the wheels are always on the other side of the country).
Thanks for all the kind words about the truck!
They are a LOT of fun to drive out in the woods. The truck is happier out there too. Up and down mountain sides at 25 to 35 miles an hour is what it was designed for rather than 60 to 80 on a freeway.
I've had mine for almost 40 years and have...
It would probably help you a lot to talk to the guys from Canada. There is a guy on here who goes by RMS that lives near Vancouver, B.C. that has rebuilt and modified a lot of the 251 Canadian trucks.
You might try sending him a PM. I'm sure he could help you a lot in figuring out what you...
M101A1 Spare Tire Bracket
Here is what I did with my spare tire.
It makes the tongue a little heavier, but the spare was mounted to the front of the bed when I got the trailer, so it was already heavy anyway. I wanted to keep the rear anti-tilt leg and I wanted to put a tool rack on the...
Welcome to the forum! A great source of information for these trucks (besides here) is the G741 website.
What are your plans for the truck?
Also, we are a very visually oriented group, so some pictures would be nice.
And, for any questions you may have, ask a way!
You can try contacting the manufacturer for parts on the UH-48. The heater (as a complete unit) is out of production and they may not talk to you because you are in Canada, and it is a US military part. I called them awhile back because I wanted to buy one, but they told me I would have to buy...
Well, I am not now, nor have I ever, used my "A" frame commercially. I don't even want to use my winch anymore (both are way too much work, and my allergy to work has gotten way worse with the passing years) let alone the "A" frame.
If I had a number of MVs and a decent shop / garage /...
Well, I have an actual military issued "A" frame winch kit, BUT it is for the little truck (M37). I have used it, (lifted the rear end off the ground because I didn't have any weight in the bed) decades ago. They are a handy and a slick little accessory. Not too much work for a couple of young...
That was an EXAMPLE of an impersonation, not stating that those laws applied to MVs.
As I said, in Washington state it has to do with the the "fraudulent intent" (do you intend to defraud an official or individual). No intent; no crime.
In my state it is all about "intent". If you are attempting to use a restored vehicle to impersonate active duty access or operations, you have committed a crime (fraud). It takes a lot to cross that threshold, however. You would need not only the vehicle, but someone in a complete uniform...
hndrsonj, the seal that you used is for the non-moveable window and is way too large for my application.
I appreciate the help, and it got me on the right track in my search.
Thanks again for all your patience and assistance!
Thanks, Bill! That is exactly what I was looking for. The have edge seals (I didn't know what the stuff was called), and there are some that look like they would work.
Thanks again!
