Any experience towing 12 foot trailer with M1009?

I agree you should be fine, and like was mentioned the hills will slow you down, i had a jimmy with a 6.2 and when i pulled a trailer the hills were slow going.

    Deuce to Tractor conversion?

I forgot to add I haul 12 ton loads with my F350 all the time safely DOT approved, and thought a deuce would do a better job, but maybe not?

    Deuce to Tractor conversion?

Just wondering why a 2 1/2 ton (that meets DOT standards trailer included) shouldn't haul 23,000 lbs ? I could see the hills slowing you down, they slow my Mack log truck down also when i'm grossing 98,000 lbs. Anyway are the brakes and engine that weak that a 12 ton load is unsafe to haul? Just...

    Will a 1988 Blazer top fit M1009?

73-87 chevy-gmc's are plentiful, nice trucks. I have a 1988 civy gmc jimmy with a 6.2, 700r and it is of the 73-87 vintage so I guess they made a few of the 73-87 style in 88. It's rusted out with a broke crank-shaft, but im keeping it around for parts for my m1008, already used a lot of the parts.

    My first MV. M35A2

Nice find, thats the way to do it, keep your eye's open, for a deal. Theres a nice one across the street in the woods thats been sitting for about 15 years. When I asked to buy it the owner gets mad, he'd rather it RIP (rust in peace) then sell it lol. Anyway good deal.

    ATF red dye?

Wow thanx nf6x that was my question. Your thread tells me that red solvent 164, which is used in off-road fuel is the same dye used in some ATF. Thats sad for my bud Lloyd, i don't know how much ATF was in his tank, but he should fight it. For all that think ex military vehicles or pickups are...

    ATF red dye?

Yes I'm afraid he's screwed. The DOT is dipping a lot of tanks around here in WI lately. A lot of us loggers have off-road fuel tanks in our pickup box and, a few guys fill there trucks with it now and then, BIG NO NO as it's a federal offense and that dye stays in the system a long time. Anyway...

    ATF red dye?

My friend was pulled over for not wearing his seatbelt while driving his pickup. The DOT officer dipped his fuel tank which had dexron tranny fluid mixed in it. They gave him a ticket for running, non road taxed fuel. they took a sample, and he's going to fight it. My ? is: Is the red dye...

    Biodiesel and waste oil

Watch out if you put ATF in your on-road fuel I think it has the 164 red dye in it like off-road fuel. My buddy just had his tank dipped and the DOT gave him a ticket for running off-road non-taxed fuel $5000.00 bucks. It's a federal offense and an audit by the IRS. He's going to fight it. I...

    6.2 hatched

Sounds good Driverside thanks a mill. I wanted to say that the $1500.00 6.2 has 8,000 miles not 600 miles & I did get him down to $1000.00 still high in my book. On a side note I used to go to the auctions in the early 90's at Ft. Mcoy & you could get some cheap deals on surplus items, they had...

    6.2 hatched

I hear what your saying, this truck for me is a back up work truck, I cant stick to much into it as funds are tight. Been having lots of spendy breakdowns lately. I'll probably look for a cheaper 6.2 engine. This cucv's been sitting for who knows how long I'm worried what else might need fixin...

The truck has 25,000 miles & no rust thats rare around here, I paid $2000.00 for it, I could sell it for that right now to...
