You have a couple of different subjects going here:
1. It is possible, and legal, to "listen" to military communications. It is a popular hobby with many people. Check this web site for some ideas: Military Comms Monitoring. HF VHF UHF Do a Google for "monitor military radio," etc. for more...
Congratulations, good price for a truck that nice. I bid on one from Md yesterday and dropped out about 4600 it finally sold for over 8000. Very low mileage, no winch, full canvas.
I have the -10 on pdf if you don't have it yet. All the manuals are available from LOGSA, if you have a fast...
Over the years with a variety of vehicles I've had good and really bad camo paint jobs. Following the manual is the safe way, base coat of green, chalk outlines for other colors then spray (if you have that luxury). Some of the paint jobs, and you've probably seen some of them through auction...
Wow!! That is a very impressive collection and it all looks operational. Someone has way too much free time and talk about "disposable income!!" Now all he needs is a ship to wrap around it.

It worked last week.
I also have a couple of the 1st Generation NVD including this really heavy beast. I need to come up with a way to mount it on a tripod - since I don't have a .50 cal or a 106mm recoilless. (yet)
See if this illustration works any better.
Also, TB 11-2300-480-12 and TB 11-5820-890-20-77 show more detail of the antenna mounting procedure .. although these TBs deal with installing SINCGARS radios in the CUCVs. They should be available for download from references or LOGSA. If not, I have...
I have a 1984 M1009 that originally had two antenna mounts at the rear, Phase I. Then about 1986 some brainiac decided to mount them in the center of the body, Phase II. So I also have holes at that point.
I intend to put 4 antenna mounts on the vehicle, but first have to get the mollies to...
Congratulations on your new Toy. When you aren't busy fixing something on it .. you will be looking for other green stuff .. or accessories for the M1009 .. or .... it just goes on and on. You'll probably find a number of small minor - but irritating things like dash board lights .. lots of them...
Great minds working together. I was just about to ask a similar question. I am converting my M116A1 Pioneer trailer to the newer composite lights and the lights that I have came with 24 volt bulbs. The trailer TM says that there are military 12 volt bulbs for use with the CUCV and other 12 volt...
You got that right. The members of the club refer to that vehicle as the "Deathstar." The owner does like to "accessorize" his vehicles. Previously he had a mule with a .50 cal. mounted on it .. a 106 I would have bought = but a Ma duce?
The people that REALLY know the Calif. Vehicle Code are the CHP (California Highway Patrol) .. height of headlights from the ground, overloaded vehicles, and all sorts of other minutia. Any mods to a stock vehicle WILL in most cases create problems with some section of the vehicle code.
As...
Nice looking CUCV. As others have mentioned, and the TMs state, the M1009 wasn't set up for towing. I've seen, and done it myself, pulling 3/4 ton trailers with the existing hitch. Not the best setup for anything over 1/4 ton trailer. For regular towing I'd go with an upgraded hitch system - it...
Although the weather guesser had been gloomy all week it turned out okay in the end. (sort of like the old story about airplane landings .. anyone you can walk away from is a good landing) :)
Due to work I wasn't able to make it in on "the big day" but had a nice visit on Sunday. Gave emmando...
TM 10-7360-206-13 and TM 10-7360-206-23P are both available in the Resources section for download. Should answer most of your questions regarding the MKT trailers.
