I have a fuel burning heater and I thought I had an exhaust leak because I had smoke in the cab. I pulled it apart and sealed all of the exhaust. I then noticed that it was blowing smoke out of the air tube. It does stop after about 30-40 seconds. My question is, is this normal or do I have a...
I would like to upgrade my transmission from the 3L80 to the 4L80E. I have a 6.5L TD in there already. I was wondering if anybody had any info they could give so I can get an idea of what I would need or extra parts I would have to get. Will it fit with the old transfer case or do you have to...
I have a heater but it doesn't have the hmmwv hardware but I'll make it work and try to find the hmmwv mounts sometime. It's cold here and I needed to put one in soon. I'll have to look those up though.
I did have a 12V adapter on one before but I took it off. I had both batteries checked and charged at the place I bought them. But, whatever battery is in the back looses the charge. I have swapped the batteries before and then they trade places. The good battery from before, I put in the rear...
I seem to be having a problem with my batteries. The back battery seems to loose voltage to the point the vehicle won't start about every 5 weeks. I know there are others post that talk about having two alternators, but since I only have the one 24v generator I am still confused. I thought the...
I took out the 6.2L NA diesel in my hmmwv and replaced it with a 6.5L TD and I was wondering if I have to have the engine cover inside the cab made or if there are any made to fit that area already made that I can buy.
No I did not put the 4L80 in. I will, but it all comes down to money. The engine a labor are expensive so when I catch up I will put it in. I have 3L80 now (SLOW!!).
Sure I will post pics. There is some modifications that need to be done. They are intake, exhaust and the dog house cover in the inside will have to be made. Sounds like a lot but it is well worth it. It might be a few days until I can post pics since I am on my road trip back home but I will...
I just wanted to say thanks to all those who helped me with the transition to a new engine. I finally got the 6.5L TD in and it runs great. I got out of the Marines and I am driving it from DC to Colorado. Thanks again.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the HMMWV 6.5L engine. I looked thought the manuals and can't find it. Everything is running good but when you turn the key off it still runs.
My HMMWV has been running fine no real problems. I go out last night and try to start it and I hear a click and nothing. So I check the batteries to make sure they are ok and they are. So I try to start it again, same thing. I wait for about a minute and try again and it starts, have no more...
I am not sure if it is hitting that part. I don't hear noise from that area when I have the hood open. Would it be doing that off and on? It makes the noise when it has been run kinda hard and seems to stop when it has had a chance to run at slower speeds. I will have to check that part out.
I start up the HMMWV and everything is fine. The problem comes when it gets hot. When I drive it down the road for a while and then come to a stop I hear a grinding type noise that starts and stops. It happens for a brief moment after I hit the gas pedal and then appears to stop. I cant hear it...
