Has anyone ever installed a fuel tank from an M1009/K5 on an 1028/1031 or an M1008 for that matter? I would really like the extra 30+ gallons of fuel capacity when the zombie apocalypse happens.:grd:
The plywood fits fine from side to side but you will need to leave the tailgate down. The height is just over 4 feet. The thing I really like is that I can load up the center with all kinds of stuff then close it up and it is out of the weather and out of site. My wife and I hit Home Depot...
I have the older SECM body on my 1031. It had the Wisconsin powered welder generator in it when I bought it. If you click on my avatar and then click on the album you will find several pics of the body and compartments. The inside of the body is just over 4 feet wide and with the old welder...
I was just doing my usual search for military stuff on Craig's List and came across this:
2-M37-dodge military brush trucks
Maybe someone out there can scratch their OD itch getting these back into shape.:D
P.S. They are not mine and I have no idea who the person is that listed them.
I have been considering putting 12 bolt HMMWV wheels and radials on my M1031. Recovery4x4 has a great deal on a complete set of rims and tires. Unfortunately I just cant afford to spend the money on the spacers and lift. So with that said what is the largest tire I can safely run on my stock...
Does anyone know the breakdown of the Air Force vehicle numbers that are painted on the door. As I recall the first two digits are always the year of the vehicle and the only third character I ever recall seeing was "K". Where other letters used for different types of vehicles? What do the...
Here is how I flew my flags om my M1031. I felt that the antenna mast was an ideal high point for the flag but I suppose if you are really looking at the letter of the law the flag should probably be relocated to the front right brush guard. Thanks for flying the colors everyone!
Does the diesel burb have dual batteries? If so it seems like you could set up a 24v sub system to run the slave plug and a few other things. The big issue is that you would have to mimic the dual alt setup from the cucv. On second thought converting the burb would probably not be so...
Cucvfreek - What kind of dye did you use and where did you get it? For those of you that have used dyes and paints on your interiors which product seems to work better? If I can just recolor what I have it sure would save some $$$.
All of the above are good suggestions. One more is to check and clean and tighten all of the battery connections. Even when they seem tight they can have corrosion and gunk keeping the current from flowing to the battery. I had this happen to mine just a couple of weeks ago. After removing...
I think I am going to switch mine over to black. My door panels are pretty sad and the visors need to be replaced. I plan to rhino line the floor so black should work out good.
You know Kenny I had this vision of a huge warehouse full of interior parts of this color because no one wanted the color on civvi trucks. Then of some GM exec at the negotiating table with DOD saying "If you will take this color we'll throw in 100 trucks at no charge". And the rest is...
I did a search to see if this question had been brought up but I didn't find anything.
Does anyone know why the maroon interior color was selected for these trucks. It seems like black or dark brown would have been a better choice. I know it is a trivial question but curiosity has gotten the...
I have been looking into installing AC on My 1031 and found this kit. It is specifically designed for 1009 and K series trucks. It costs almost a grand so I am saving my pennies so I can make it my spring project. Anyone had any experience with this product?
C / K Series Military M-1009 Truck...
Are the batteries on the 1008 on the drivers side? I thought, with the exception of the m1010 that they were basically the same configuration on all of the CUCVs with the two battery trays on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
Why not do what I did in reverse. Move the rear battery to the front and then remove the rear tray. I think you would have to lengthen a couple of cables but I bet it would work. If you did that would it free up the room you will need for the turbo mod?
