There must be some specific reason to have removed the drip edge on these trucks. From the looks of the civi trucks the drip edge is the point where the roof is joined to the rest of the cab structure. To remove the drip edge and join the roof in a different way seems like a lot of labor just...
Thanks. Like just about everyone we are watching our $$$ so I may have to wait on that until after school starts.
liftmeup...if you do the swap would you be interested in selling the PTO gearbox? I can think of a few ways I might be able to use it on my truck.
I say set it up the way you like it. I have seen a few nice pickup beds for sale on this site and I would imagine there is someone out there that would really like that SECM body. Is the body the one with the PTO powered gen?
I really like my M1031 but to be honest AC would be nice in this south Florida heat. Here is my question...why couldn't I take the AC components from a civilian doner truck and install them into the M1031? I know I would have to fabricate mounting brackets for the compressor and that is...
Just ran across this on the Fort Myers CL. I purchased some ammo cans from this guy a while back and he seems like a straight shooter. Wish I could buy one but I would have to sell the motorhome. I wouldn't mind camping in a deuce but I don't think my wife would go for it.;-)
Miltary Duces (two)
After seeing the second video I think these guys are probably doing whatever they have to to make a living. That truck is seriously overloaded and unstable. That guy was insane to get on the front of that truck and think his weight would make any real difference. Let's just say I'm glad my job...
I am installing a 7kw Kolher gen in mine. I will be able to have the generator, a compressor, and my small mig welder in a fraction of the space originally needed by the Hobart welder/air compressor combo. And thanks to a suggestion from Ken I will be able to fuel the whole works from a propane...
Oh man the 7200 mile unit looks nice! Looks like all of the important items are intact. Would be nice to see what is still in the boxes. Don't worry guys I already have mine and not enough money for a second...so I won't be any competition. :-D
Does anyone know if the USAF used the M1031 SECM combo? When I was active AF in the 80s and 90s I did see a number of 1008/9s used primarily by the security guys but I don't remember seeing any 1031s. If any were used does anyone have any pics of them?
Hello All,
I have been and SS member for a few weeks now and just wanted to do the formal "new guy on the block" post. Lots of great info on this site and you look like a great group of folks. I bought an M1031 with the SECM body a few weeks ago. Got it off ebay from a seller in AL. Was a...
Hey Ken that looks pretty nice...Hey I recognize that maint body :-D. I still think it is a cool concept but as mentioned before you either need to tall or have some fold out steps of some kind. I disagree with Brian on the scale. I think you are pretty close especially since this body has the...
I know these engines are tough. We had one on a New Holland Swather when I was a kid. That thing ran and ran. Lance, thanks for the information on Hobart. I will check into parts and see what I can get. Maybe I can get the beastie running again :-D. I'm kind of a glutton for punishment too.
I recently purchased an M1031 Contact Maintenance Truck with the G204 Hobart Genset still in it. The unit shows 56 hours on the clock but is not running. It has the 4 cyl Wisconsin. The engine is missing the rotor, distributor cap, and plug wires. Otherwise the engine looks complete. I have...
Thanks again for the suggestions. I managed to scrape together the materials I needed and built a new cover this morning. The next task is doing a good once over on the Hobart to see if I can bring it back to life...I noticed more missing parts today. This could take a while. :|
Just before I bought my M1031 I saw a bobbed Deuce for sale in the Keys. I was wondering what it would look like with a maint body on it. I think it would be a pretty sweet setup. You could definitely get places I couldn't with mine.
