    Vent Window Glass

The vent window glass in my m1008 has come loose from its frame. What is the best way to re-attach it? I'm thinking that some type of glue would be fine, but there seems to be a gasket in the frame. Thanks.

    Jack Handle Bracket

Does any one have the bracket and wing nut assembly that secures the jack handle behind the seat? If not, how about a picture or part/stock number? Thanks.

Can someone point me to the proper TM for removing the coolant crossover pipe? I can't seem to locate it. Thanks.

    M1008 Axle Flange Gasket

OK, so my axle hub is slightly leaking after I got the truck from the brake shop. In the past, I have used RTV, but this time I'd like to use a gasket because it seems to be faster to install. My question is: the gasket is metal, so do I just slap that puppy on the axle/hub like that, or do I...

    Correct Alternator Pulley

Does anyone know where I can get the correct diameter pulley for my m1008's alternator? I have an extra alternator, but with a smaller diameter pulley than my ohter alts. I've searched the net fruitlessly. Does diameter of pulley matter? Thanks.

    Gauges

The water jacket cover is a piece of flat steel that covers the rear, passenger side of the engine head. It's a steel cicle about the size of a one dollar coin-anybody remember those?- with flanges at either end for the hold down bolts. Take off your air cleaner and look around where the tranny...

    electrical problems CUCV

Ditto for chevyrac66's comment. Dielectric grease helps too.

    Starter Advice

I got the new(er) alternator from Parramore Surplus in Mt. Pleasant, FLA. so I'm sure its a CUCV alternator. As for the wiring: I checked another M1008 and hooked the wires up just like that one. If you're familiar with Russell Deese out of Cairo, GA., he deals in MV's. His suggestion was...

    Starter Advice

I have just put a second passenger side alternator on my M1008. Even though the starter was not the initial problem, it is now. The GEN 2 light was on when I turned the key, but now it's out, and the starter won't turn. Also getting sparks and smoke from back battery's negative post. Any...

    Electrics going bonkers

My coolant sensor light went wacko once by lighting every time I made a hard stop. Turned out to be the plug connection under the dash. I believe it plugs into the same box as the water in fuel/wait lights. Anyhow, its under there somewhere. I just put some dielectric grease on the contact.

    I'm an IDIOT!

just unhooked the passenger alternator, and hooked up the batteries. no popping, frying, sizzling, sparking, etc. logically, i must conclude the alternator is flawed. now if i only had a voltmeter.

    I'm an IDIOT!

yes, mine seems to be like that, but should alternator two's wiring hook up to the alternator exactly like alternator one's? i told the rebuild guy the alternator needed to be isolated ground, and i think he said he rebuilt it that way. who knows?

    Can someone explain isolated ground?

Can someone explain this concept to me and why the passenger side is the isolated ground?

    I'm an IDIOT!

Would that also explain why the GEN 2 light would not light up? Should the passenger alternator be wired like the driver's side? Any pictures would help. I looked at a picture of the passenger alternator on the Roscommon Equipment Center website, and the picture shows how I originally wired...

    I'm an IDIOT!

I need some serious help. The shop that rebuilt my alternators said that alternator 2 was OK. I hooked it up--CORRECTLY-- then hooked up the baterries, and got a sizzling/frying sound from the back battery's negative terminal, and smoke poured out of the glow plug relay on the firewall. I've...

    I'm an IDIOT!

Thanks for the replies. As suggested, I pulled GEN 1's wire and it didn't light. Made me feel better. But, I did try to crank the truck without alternator 2 in place: won't try that again. Lots of sparks from back battery's positive terminal. Maybe I'd better read up on vehicle electrical...

    I'm an IDIOT!

OK, so alternator # 2 seizes on the way home. I get it rebuilt. I hook it back up. BACKWARDS! When I hooked the batterys back up, a loud pop and a puff of smoke come out of the alternator. Question: Even though I fried the alternator, shouldn't the GEN 2 idiot light still shine before I...

    Tire Changing Gear

Does anyone know where I can get the proper jack handle and the wing nuts that hold down all of tire changing gear for an m1008? I looked every where but can't seem to locate it, ans I want it back like it came from the factory. Thanks.
