What did you do to your deuce this week?

Well some would leave it red, not for me though. This truck is a 1971 so it may or may not have seen service in Vietnam. My first tour in the army I deployed with 24th INF (M) to Desert Storm. I could retire this year but I'm going to stick around for one more tour. So my idea is to fix her...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

What did you do to your deuce this week?: 1. Bought it from GSA. 2. Friends making the recovery later this week. 3. I am still deployed so I won't even see it for about another month. 4. Painting it will be high on the priorities list I'll know more after srodocker, and AN/ARC186 check her...

    First ever CUCV

Harold, trust me I just paid $3,205 for a deuce that would have only ran a $1000 a few years back. sorry for the side bar:-D -Dale

San Diego to Gainesville Fl June

Sounds like a longer version of my next PCS move. I will be towing my M1008 with Harley Davidson Night-rod on the truck bed, plus a few household items in the deuce bed from Tacoma, WA to FT Hood, TX this Fall. I convinced the wife that buying the deuce would be cheaper than buying a enclosed...

    suggestion on the word help

Here is an idea, how about an icon? kinda like the one for your PM alert but red this could go to the left side block like the "poll" icon. It could be a site rule to only use that icon in real emergencies. then you have a way to mark emergency threads and you are taking word-play out of the...

    The Untouchable rebuild

Subscribed! I've had a M1008 for awhile, just bought my first 71 M35A2, and I have a deal to purchase a running M54A2C for a really good price once I get back from this deployment. -Dale

    suggestion on the word help

I'm with you, "help" just pops into your head because that's what you might think you need. and it could be a hard rule for the mods to enforce adding to their workload. Sure rewording could work: Assistance needed Advice needed/ advice requested problem with... I'm sure the list goes on...

    suggestion on the word help

Maybe....maybe not. I can see your point but say somebody has a CUCV as their daily driver, and its broken at home and your stumpted. You need help to get it running so you can get to work right? Maybe title the roadside help request as "ROADSIDE SOS" or similar? Anyway its not my call...

    M1009 Bumper Numbers

Also the most common abbreviation I have seen is STB or BSTB, the ST all alone threw me way off. I'm sure the OP will be thrilled at the new information!

    M1009 Bumper Numbers

Thanks CARNAC! I just won a 71 M35A2 on GSA but I am deployed still, once my friends recover her from the Snohomish Fire Department and see what the VIN is I'll be posting a request in your 2012 vin info thread. Thanks for all you do to help this site out! *edit: fairly sure the vin they...

    Ballpark price range

Also try GSA (gsaauctions.gov) State and local property is auctioned there. I just bought a '71 M35A2 for $3,205 that a fire department had. Preview the item if possible some of the trucks on GSA are not as well maintained, mine looked good though.......despite being red. -Dale

    M1009 Bumper Numbers

ok I pulled up a larger pic of your avatar on your profile album, I will have to dig some on yours as its a bit odd. I say this because most standard is to have the unit on the left side as you look at it, and the bumper admin number on the your right as you look/view it. Yours seem to be...

    M1009 Bumper Numbers

I am fairly decent at decoding most of the bumper numbers if you can post a picture of them or at least type up what they read. Comes with 24 years in service I guess (20 active 4 reserves) -Dale

whats the best way to buy a CUCV?

Ok DS, Here is my two cents. The first MV I ever bought was a M1009 back in late 2008. It had a 6" lift, Rock Crawler wheels, and HMMWV tires for $3800. I still consider it worth what I paid. In Spring of 2009 I bought a M1008 for $1900 on GL auction that has been a FANTASTIC truck! I have...

    PNW Info Thread!

Thanks Zy, I saw that 2k truck......then I saw no title/paperwork and Immediately reach up high and pulled a one riser diagonal slip away from that problem! (airborne jargon) All kidding aside there would be a way to make it legal I'm sure. Does not look to bad either. -Dale

    PNW Info Thread!

Red? If it did not take so long to get finally get a M35A2, I would find a Arctic cargo cover an cab top then get a bunch of Crimson Tide/Roll Tide gear to outfit the truck with then take it down to Bama and flip it for 10k as the ultimate tail gate rig! No worries it will be tan soon enough...
