I have a set of crows feet for 25 years that I have never used.... till today. And yes. The paint pen is a marvelous thing. Thanks again for the advice.
Taking the panel off today revealed that the trailer supply valve is leaking at a fitting. It turned out to be a minor issue (famous last words). Still, thanks to you guys, I learned something more about my truck. Now, how do I get a wrench in there???
My park brake valve is venting when air is supplied to release the park brakes. Parking brake works when applied. Air continues to vent with the engine off and the Park Brk. off. I rummaged through the postings here and got a student's grasp of the air system. Thanks to Ronmar for posting...
I found these videos on You tube. It doesn't appear to have gotten much air play. It has very good info for new FMTV drivers.
Stuff on HUMMV , M 923's and other cool stuff.
Thanks all. I got the truck with an empty tank. The filter and fluid are fresh and topped off. The PTO apparently does engage. The RPM goes to high idle and I can feel fluid movement at the manifold. To my ear the PTO sounds normal. I installed a 3K psi gauge at the test port by the filter...
Thanks for that Godspeed. I'm going to be sending my drivelines to be rebuilt. One needs it (see above) the other will go along to be checked out, but I will leave the connecting driveline alone if good.
Today's adventure saw the replacing of the MHC switch and... no joy. Attempted to lower...
Well, after a week of ordering parts and tools and studying, stuff is flowing in. Kinda sort of... Today's project was to filter and fill the MHC Hyd system and check the crane operation. I filled it up and turn on the PTO. Sounds good, no spray or leaks but no response from any controls...
Howdy all,
Does anyone have a civilian cross reference for Hyd filter 931558 NSN 2940-01-363-4377 ? I didn't see it listed in the cross reference sticky nor any mention of it at the manufacture's website or cross reference sites.
Taking pirate radio to the next level....
If that paint is latex, try some of the citrus based solvents and a pressure washer. CARC should resist those long enough to wash it off.
Great. Thanks. I saw the post on the 3D printed "cut off hub" . Is that a tool for holding the spider gear in place for measurement? I think my CR10 can print that.
Humm. I wonder if that 3 in 1 tool is for engine seals.
In this post, https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/fmtv-special-tools.167478/#post-2032686, there lists a 3 in 1 seal tool. I've been searching around here and the TM's but I have not found the application. I am looking to tool up for a CTIS seal replacement. Is this tool applicable?
Ooh...Just scored big on a crane remote. I am starting to compile a list of materials needed but I'll check in with you guys to make sure I got it all. I'll start a new thread on tools needed.
