Nice pictures, thank you for posting them. I had a Studebaker Deuce with the LDS427, it had more power than any 465 powered truck that I have owned. I really wish that I kept that truck, it would hold 55 to 60 no matter how big the hills. Once you got to 5th gear you would just leave it there.
Up to about 1980 Sears had a catalog of just Jeep parts. They carried all kinds of mechanical, body and electrical parts. I know they had complete engines and transmissions and complete body tubs.
Bjorn;
Have you considered stainless steel flex hoses.Cool-Flex and Mr. Gasket make them and once you form them they hold their shape. They come in different lengths and colors and are simple to install. I put a set on my M51A1 and I run them on my Ford Diesel PU. Check out...
A transmission out of an A1 series will work as it is an overdrive unit. The transmissions in the gas and multifuel trucks are direct drive. Your 813 has the OD tranny. The transmissions are all the same in size, but with different gear ratios internally. It will bolt in place but performance...
RE: more pics of unknown duece
From what I see of it in your pictures, it looks like one that was made for the civilian market. I know REO and Studebaker sold the 2.5T trucks to civilian operators. The trucks main difference was the electrical system, 12 volt and not waterproofed, civilian...
If you are unable to find one off of a M123, a regular 5T fender, pre 800 series will fit. The fenders are basically the same but have some detail differences in the inner fender panel area. The inner panel is easily modified.
A couple of years ago a buddy and I removed the entire cab...
I just installed Builder77's kit. It took less than 3 minutes to install, I timed it. The components were of high quality, with great engineering and it included everything needed. The engine is a Memphis Equipment rebuild, and is now ready to go in the truck. I spun the engine over with a 1...
RE: winch
In my opinion the pump amd motor recomended will be a little undersized for a Deuce. You can carry a Landrover in a deuce, so I would scale up the project. As listed in the article it probably would power a Deuce winch but it would be very slow.I would run a big truck power steering...
Sorry, I thought you wanted it out of the housing. To test it it would be eaiser to use a heat gun, hot air, to see if it is opening. Although you will not get an accurate temperature reading.
The engines are an excellent design but the weak link is the 22:1 compression ratio. Where most diesels run at 16-18:1, the MF ratio had to be increased so it could burn multiple fuels. This makes the engine susceptible to damage when lugged or over reved. When a machine is overtaxed something...
