if its puking coolant - must be getting pressure in the cooling system from either a bad head gasket - or maybe some cavitation holes in one of the cylinders -----since you just got the truck you have no idea if cooling system was properly treated to prevent cavitation damage.
got to a shop...
but you would need a "float" feature in the cylinder controls to allow normal articulation while operating normally....not sure how long these cylinders would last
"push" hydraulic cylinders for front axle or "pull" hydraulic cylinders on rear axle would likely work - looks like tailgate will be WAY up in the air when you actuate though
wouldnt hurt to take the drum off and take a look see before inviting blind speculation----I would guess the lack of initiative was what sparked the crass response.
you must have taken your truck to a pretty shady transmission shop - for him to have replaced the adapter and left a cracked transmission in place ....
My guess is GL picked up the truck with a forklift and broke the adapter/transmission and probably bent the driveshaft --which at highway...
the bucket method with (2) 2x4s - then you dont have to hold the tire to remove the one -under the tire- used as a ramp -
just use the second 2x4 as the gentleman explained
a piece of 2 inch steel pipe might even work better for step #2 ---better slide action
thank you for the NOTEK info - Im very interested german WWII equipt. I generally admire the war machines that changed war as was known at the time and defined Blitzkrieg......Wasnt aware that they used blackout lights to the extent that they did
follow up question - whats the spoon lookin...
what is that german helmet looking thing on the drivers side front fender?
with all that excellent german engineering talent - those sorry side curtains are the best they could do?...kind of a surprise being how over engineered most german war machines were.
Definitely a FINE specimen though...
probably all these military tires should be suspect - after all they can be quite old ....they sit outside and the UV from the sun degrades the rubber and especially Michelins - known by anyone who knows tires to "check" ....basically crack on the sidewalls after just a year or two. Ive had...
If you assume a civilian truck with 3.50 gears and a .75 overdrive trans in top gear can go 100mph bumping off the governor......then a 6.17 geared M920 with direct drive CAT 7155 trans shouldnt be capable of any more than about 40 mph -----by calculation....but I read a post from 2009 from...
Yeah - I had you in mind when I posted.....those tires have a WAY cool factor - but not everyone can afford them or need them....I was thinking more mainstream where somebody got a M916/920 with stock tires and just wanted to not redline the tach every outing on the highway....one would think...
are the highway gear ratio carriers that expensive - or is it that they are just not available -----is it because these trucks have military specific drive axles?
a m916/920 with 3.50, 3.73 or 3.90 axle ratio would be a nice hiway truck and with low transmission gears would still have grunt...
Ive been watching the GL auctions and have been interested in some 5 tons - seems they are many time FAR away and having looked into trucking costs havent pulled the trigger mainly because the trucking is half again what the trucks cost
Was wondering if anyone has had a vehicle towed or driven...
