We were out of power for a week after Hurricane Hermine hit us. That was the last straw for me and began my search for a generator. Having a diesel tractor and backhoe was my inspiration for seeking out a diesel powered generator. Between the two tractors I was already keeping at least 50...
If they wanted you to get a permit they wouldn't make it so difficult.
I did my own interlock on the breaker panel. The interlock was made by Square D and sold at the home improvement store.
I have had utility workers on my property checking for line damage with my 803 connected and running...
I'll have to get with you if I ever decide to rivnut my set. I have a small bag of aluminum 10-32 rivnuts but not enough to do the set and no tool.
I have found that a dab of antisieze compound will keep the corrosion at bay. Messy but worth it in the long run.
I've had the same thing happen on my unit. Cleaning the connectors and messing with the base nut on the studs got both back in operation. Can't say for sure what the cause was but I suspect when you tighten the nuts sometimes it moves the stud in the gauge and causes a problem. I double nutted...
Used this in my backhoe when I changed it this year.
When I did the MEP I used Rotella ELC.
Both are rated and recommended for diesel engine so I figured I would be safe. Could not find anywhere on the green Prestone label that it would be okay to use in a diesel. Regular Prestone says it...
I originally set my 803 on the ground and it has been sucking leaves up into the engine compartment. Add to that a squirrel has decided it looked like a fun place to store and eat acorns. Fortunately he did not munch on any wires.
I was also wanting to drag it out to remove the top and wash the...
Picked mine up in Atlanta with my F150, 6.5 ft bed. Fork lift had no trouble putting it in. Truck drove fine with it in the bed.
I winched it out onto a flatbed using 6 ft aluminum ladder type ramps. It didn't slide worth a flip. Had to keep tightening up on the winch and prying up on the skid...
If you want to use 55 gallon drums call another diesel supplier to see what their minimum is and if they will pump into drums. You can fabricate a pickup tube. I made a large one for my transfer pump out of PVC. The big hole in a metal drum can use a 2" NPT and the vent hole is 3/4" NPT. I found...
You guys can have that cold weather! Stay safe and warm.
Our line trimming crew came through a couple of weeks ago. Wind blew a little the other day and out went the power. We were going out so I didn't bother starting the generator. My monthly test was last Sunday so I got that done and all...
In case anyone decides to make their own the thread in the bung adapter is 1/4" NPT. I think I used a piece of 1/2" OD aluminum tube to make the one for my 55 gallon drums. Cut to length and ran a 1/4" NPT tap over one end.
